  1. The Chevy symbol on the cross bar that splits the grill. Mine is cracked, and to me it is highly noticeable. Is it possible to remove just the emblem and replace it? If so how difficult is it and where would I find a replacement? Thanks for the help.
  2. Just wondering, for all of you guys whgo have aftermarket hoods, how much was it to have it prepped, painted, and installed? Just trying to get an idea of how much i need....... I'll be looking at a Cowl hood, if that makes any difference.
  3. Just wanted to throw this out there, I had to change the pads and have both rear calipers rebuilt 5-6 months ago. On each caliper, one side was operating normally, while on the other side, the pad would not disengage all the way. Ate through the pad almost to he metal. So i had to pay for new pads, turning both rotors, rebuilding both calipers, and flushing the system. Front brakes still had like 80% of material left on them. This was around 70k miles.
  4. He doesn't mean a million different things and you know it. Racist comment. He laid all the stereotypes that racists have out in front of you: 26 inch wheels, drug dealers, Obama and his voters. So sad that in 2009 we still have ignorant people making these comments. Also, totally inappropriate posting such a thing in a TRUCK forum.
  5. If it isn't too out of line, can i ask you how much that ran you, total? Would love to do something like that but prices of paint scare me, lol.
  6. In a couple truck magazines I have seen a Banks Exhaust ad that has a black SSS in it, lowered. It is in the most recent issue of Trucks (or truckin?). Can anyone tell me what those wheels are and how much they run?
  7. I should also note I just started hearing the noise after I had my tires rotated. The front tires that went to the rear were kinda worn, estimated 5,000 miles left on them, while the tires that went from rear to front still looked very good with about 15,000 miles left on them. Estimates are by the Sears tech after he measrued the treads. The first time I heard the noise was driving home from sears. Could the tires be making this noise or is this highly unlikely?
  8. So my rear end is howling, just started. Can this be caused by low fluid? I just had my rear pads replaced and found out that the seals were leaking too. I guess by the hubs? So should I replace seals and flush the rear, or is it likely that the damage has been done? and I need to replace the whole rear? If I have to replace how much am I looking at? PS: Truck is an '03 AWD SS. 73,000 miles.
  9. My truck has 72k on it right now, just have bolt ons at the moment. I want to add a cam, so that plus the mileage makes me nervous about the tranny, even though it works just fine now. What should I expect to pay for a decent rebuild, keeping in mind a mild cam?
  10. Hey guys, I have an '03 with 71k on it. What parts should I think about replacing so that the steering doesn't start to feel worn out and old? Also what would the cost for these parts generally be? Thanks!
  11. Looking for someone to install a kill switch and/or an alarm in Austin, TX. Can anyone here know of somebody who does quality work? Thanks
  12. The other morning I was in a hurry to leave, backing out of my space I wasn't paying much attention and thought I had more room than i actually had. Hit the bottom driver side of my back bumper on a small wood retaining barrier (bushes and plants). It pushed the bottom of the bumper inward a bit, so here is hardly any space between the bumper and the panel when you look at it from the side. Damage doesn't look too bad, but I don't know what it looks like underneath the bumper cover. Just pisses me off, should have been more careful. Thoughts?
  13. My SSS is having brake light issues. The pass. side light does not come on when the night running lights are on, but does come on when you press the break pedal. Anyone in central Texas good with electrical stuff? I sadly live in an apartment with no tools. I wanted to check here and see if anyone wanted to help before I go drop it off at the stealership next week. PM me for contact info if you are available!
  14. Alright video, should have had an SS, and dropped the lame country music.
  15. So, my truck is going near 70,000 miles now, and I want to start doing some modding and replacing (tranny, rear diff., stereo, cam). Now, I know when selling a modded vehicle you shouldn't expect to get more money for the mods, and I can deal with that and depreciation. But what about the dreaded accident where the vehicle is totaled? I'd be extremely pissed if I spent thousands of dollars on the truck than have it totaled. Is there an insurance company that offers increased coverage for someone in my situation? What do you all do?
  16. I have a 2003 SSS, it is nearing 70,000 miles. Just wondering how much a decent rebuild should cost? I'm not looking for a hardcore trans for 800 hp or anything, but definitely something strong and fresh.
  17. I am looking to get rid of the Bose system, and get a 2 din head unit. What are some good speakers for a decent price? Nothing professional, but no cheap ass wal mart crap either. Also, I have 2 12 Rockford Fosgates, but I need a new amp, the one i have is old and cheap. PS: Do I need to get another amp for the speakers to? I am kind of new to all this.
  18. I'll get back to you. You always have kits on hand?
  19. So what all does it take to install them? What do I have to do?
  20. I am interested in HID's for my '03 SSS. All I know if that they are better than the stock ones though. How much should I expect to pay? How hard are they to install? I'm not good with wiring or electrical, so should I pay someone to do it? Thanks guys!
  21. Take it to the dealer. They have all kinds of tools and instruments to find these problems. Depending on the issue they could probably still find it even if your truck were to keep starting up. My opinion, its not worth the stress of wondering your truck is going to start up or not.
  22. I was wondering if their are any complete kits for the hoses for our trucks. My truck is nearing 70,000 miles so I am going to start replacing stuff here and there. Also, how much is the belt? $20?
  23. I have a 2003 SSS. The pas. side brake light is acting screwy. When the headlights are on, the light does not work. But when I press the brake pedal, the light comes on. Turn signal works, reverse lights work, already changed the bulb. Anyone know whats up?
  24. You are still stressing the transfer case dynoing it like that. Just becasue the vehicle isn't moving doesn't mean there is no stress on the drive train components. There is still power moving through the trans. I don't think you fully understand any of this, given as you had a hard time understanding why people had a problem you listing power you got as AWD when it was obtained as RWD. You said you have been here since 2003, yet these simple ideas are still too much for you too understand?
