  1. looks awesome! a little lower and your there!
  2. nelson is a good tuner and having him tune it in person makes it that much more worthwhile. is he going to dyno and street tune it for you? you might ask him about torque management...i believe he takes all or most out and without a shift kit id be leary of that.
  3. pm posi12bolt or possibly quick/mater.
  4. funny i was just reading over at pt.net about people's misconception that a shift kit actually shortens the life of our transmissions. i just dont get it. it is one of the cheapest and best mods you can do and it will help prolong the life of these transmissions. my tranny guy puts at least the transgo hd-1 kit in every rebuild he does. so yes do a shift kit, parts and laber probably cost you around 300 bucks but its money well spent. another fairly inexpensive thing to do is upgrade your trans cooler. the stock one is at best adequate. a larger cooler will keep trans temps down further helping the situation. mine dropped almost 20 degrees at operating temp just by adding a bigger cooler and that is with a higher stall converter to boot. good luck with the future mods!
  5. i switched to amsoil fully synthetic not too long ago. didnt notice any difference from the dex IV though.
  6. for what its worth i had the flanges machined on mine even brand new. ive installed too many other brands of headers that leaked so it was worth the small expense to ensure no leaking.
  7. his truck is for sale....might have something to do with it.
  8. only crappy one of my rig ive got for now.
  9. there's a couple discussions on this. search under tbyrne's group buys.
  10. yeah of all 32 states we visited, i felt the most out of place in south carolina. beautiful countryside though. we ate at a truck stop the next morning and there were lots of truck, lots of confederate flags and what not which didnt bother me as much as my wife but we were hungry. they took our order but didnt want to serve us i guess. after an hour of not geting our food and repeatedly asking how long does it take to cook bacon and eggs and watching others come in, sit down, eat, pay and leave we just left. probably the first and only time in my life i was discriminated against by people of my own color. guess they dont like "yanks" too much still in some parts.
  11. my first waffle house experience was on a cross country driving trip about 4 years ago with the wife in the old mitsubishi. we arrived in greenville south carolina at about 2 am and were starving and it was the only thing open. needless to say the food was terrible and well i didnt get a very warm welcoming feeling there, lol.
  12. i hear that. constantly comercials for sonic here but the closest one isnt in hop in your truck and go drive for dinner distance. been to a few throughout the southern states though.how bout the waffle house? you southern guys should know that nasty greasy spoon. another one i encountered i liked was the cracker barrel chain in the midwest. pretty good food.
  13. and thanks for the donuts mark! my wife loved them.
  14. very true krambo. i was referring to a basically stock truck like mine. i cant dead hook with 29.5 drag radials but thats due to my gearing. shorter tire if you can hook will put you at a better trap speed crossing the line. many variables to think about i agree.
  15. i went 3 inch all the way from headers back.
  16. depending on your gearing dont buy taller than a 28 inch tire. my 4.56's necessitate a taller slick but if youve got 3.73's or 4.10's go with a 28 inch or shorter tire.
  17. i totatlly agree with autoguy. when i first did mine i did the dynatechs and true duals with no xpipe and it was way to raspy sounding. then switched to an xipipe and dual magnaflow bullets and it still sounded tough just a lot smother.
  18. the xpipe will make it quieter. it will even out exhaust scavenging producing more low end torque. if you concerned about noise just ditch the cats and or the x-pipe. the gains won't be that noticeable either way.
  19. you could put 15's on like me since you have drums. 29X11.5X15 mt et street's on 15X8 wheels.
  20. no caltracs yet. couldve used them though. might be testing some long bars but havent talked to the guy in a couple days. better track prep and 60 ft and i should be in the 13's pretty easily. gonna shut it down for a while to gather parts for my ls6 intake/cam swap i think.
