  1. i just got my pickup recently. and today was my first experience with rain, while drivin her. lets just say it got a lil scary...see i totaled my last truck (company veh.) down in houston when it was raining. happened 3 months ago. so im still a lil leery about driving in it. (the rain that is)

just really posting this to see if anyone else's sss gets a lil squirly when wet??

maybe i just need new tires. it has 70k mi. on it and it looks like it still has the stockies on there. or at least the same brand as the stock tires....either way they're balding. (like i prolly will be in a couple years :jester:)

anyhow, have a good one!

  2. i just realized, after looking at my calender, that my family is having a halloween party on the 28th. we have it every year, sort of a tradition, and i cant miss it...that sucks, cuz i was really wanting to meet up with everyone. oh well, maybe next time...u guys have fun! and dont give those hooter girls too hard of a time. :P
We're getting together on the 21st, not the 28th. Hope you can still make it.

well then, looks like i'll be able to make it after all. got a job interview though monday. we'll see how that goes. hate to ask off on my first day!! :D

  3. i wonder if he could make a vinyl that went all the way from the bottom front bumper across the color matched front, across the hood, the cab, and then came down the tailgate and rear bumper. i see that on dodges alot and i like it. i dont know how this would come out on a silverado ss....interested though. can anyone photoshop that??

  4. Well a group of us went to cecil county dragstrip in md last night.  Only got two runs in.  My first run i went 12.926 @ 106.17.  Then I adjusted  my nitrous controller and then ran a 12.635 @106.20 spinning all 4 off the line.

here's my best of the 2 runs

    R/T          .414

    60'           1.837

    330          5.173

    1/8           8.024

    MPH          85.34

    1000         10.518

    1/4           12.635

    MPH          106.20

you did that with just nitrous??? wow :driving: thats awesome!

  5. my friend owns an sti. and yeah they are pretty damn quick. my last car was a turbo charged rsx-s. (i was big into imports until i bought my sss) that car had 400whp and 275lbs of twist...in a 2800lb car!!! i miss it. just wasnt practical as a daily driver anymore. i've blown away sti's and evo's alike. but then again i had over $12k into that car...put that same money into an sti or evo and u are flyin!!!! lovin the AWD...

good kill bro! but you gotta be careful in cali.

  6. good to here! i get so exited every time i get on here. i learn something new everyday about this truck. and everyday it makes me glad i found it. i think the only way i'd get rid of her is if someone pried it from my cold dead fingers!! and i bought it used. that guy must not have know what he had... :chevy:

  7. No, higher octane fuel by definition burns slower and cooler than lower-octane fuel; this allows engines to be operated with more ignition advance and/or compression ratio (higher efficiency) but there will be more carbon buildup as a trade-off.

ohhhh. so thats where the seafoam comes in.

see i had a mechanic awhile back tell me that its pointless to use a "fuel system cleaner". to just buy the higher octane (91) at the pump. and it would be the equivlant to running a fuel system cleaner every oil change...glad to find out he was wrong now, instead of 10 years from now.

btw, im currently using 89 octane...and i'll just run some fuel cleaner in there every oil change. which i'll be using a full synthetic oil. (mobil1 or castrol) so that will be every 7500mi.

sound good? im keeping this truck, so i want it to last me. i've never had a car longer than a year, so i'm not to "big" on longtivety (sp). and my dad is the same way....chip off the ole block i guess. ha!

  8. Flush trans for $120; if that is a flush with pan drop and filter change go for it, if it is just a flush I would avoid it with that many miles. To many people end up with slush boxes after just a flush without a pan drop and filter change on higher mile vehicles.

Fuel injector flush $120 is high in my area, but shop around, that may be the going rate where your at. Lucas makes a really good fuel injector cleaner I use every time I change my oil, $3.99 most places.

Fuel Filter, yea it needs it probably, $51 is steep, but not harsh. You can do it yourself  on the '03 it is still on the frame rail.

Oil? I've used the German Castrol Synthetic since the first oil change, it's a 0w-30 but viscosity is more like a 5w-40 Mobil. So far I've can't complain about it.

As for gas, my VHO doesn't like anything less than 91, she's picky like that.

Anything else on a new/used '03 SS, well if it was me I would probably change the plugs even though chevy says they are good for 100k.

very informative. thanks for answering all those questions. and the tranny flush would include a pan drop. they said they have some kind of machine that does it all. (i thought i could do this myself, but apparently not) i'll def. check on the inj. flush. and i can do the filter myself. (save a couple $) and i'll check into lucas. it seems everytime i try to use an injector cleaner, that my vehec. performs worse afterwards.?.? maybe i've been using the wrong inj. cleaner... thanks again man!! +rep for you!

  9. i bought an extended warranty when i got the truck. (3yr or when the truck reaches 110k mi.) so i'll have them check this out. :banghead:

didnt know it came stock. lol :D

has anyone had a problem after having it replaced? i mean is it a recurring issue that cant be solved?

or is it a waste of time getting fixed?? something that might be considered "regular maintance"
