  1. IMO I like closed intake boxes over open just simply for the reason that open intakes get exposed to so much more stuff then closed ones and water alot easier to. Here in spring months when it rains it rains very hard and it is not easy to avoid huge puddles of water that will soak the engine. I think having a closed box intake will be alot safer IMO but Im no mechanic.

  2. There are many different places you can get'em at. Mine was on sale and ordered off ebay. Also i like ckresto.com, they have a lot of hoods and you can put stuff on layaway with them. Got some emblems from them and was very happy dealing with them. Just google cowl hood silverado and take your pick.

Nice Christmas Gift! You can also www.carhoods.com they have a pretty good selection as well

  3. If that's what you wanna pay stick to it, Tell them this is my final offer, thanks for your time here's my # if you change your mind, Then walk away, Has worked for me several times, Dealerships don't want you to leave for fear you'll go to other dealers,& if they think you won't budge you'll get the best deal. jmo

I agree 100% the day we tried to work a deal on my SSS I told them I wanted my payment between 350 and 400 a month well they wanted me to take a 450 payment a month which I was not gonna do period. So they wanted me to look at a new buick or something and I laughed I told them this is the only vehicle you guys have and its too much so Thanks but No thanks and walked away. 30 minutes later they call me saying they will work on the deal to get me down to a payment I was happy with so I agreed and gave them 2 days to work things out since I wasn't in a huge rush to buy a vehicle and surely enough they went from a 24,995 price down to a 21500 price with 1000 down and then we went and talked to a local bank and got a better a better rate and that knocked my payment down even more. So needless to say I got my truck within 2 days of looking at it for about 4k less then what they were asking and drove off with it that night which boy let me tell you I was very very excited I felt like I won the lottery!

Sorry I was taking a step in memory lane lol :chevy:

  4. $133 at ChevyMall.com, or front & rear mats for $215 on AutoAnything.com (I don't even have rear mats... )

I only know that because I noticed Hankg42 had them listed on his garage page as a modification.

If you want floor mats but dont want the SS to be red then go through stylintrucks.com and look at their custom lyoids mats that you can select all kinds of colors and stuff to fit your preference.

  5. Moline, one of the Quad Cities.

Welcome to the site and a welcome from another Quad City Member (Davenport) I know you said you wanna trade but if you ever consider just buying outright my truck is for sale and im right across the river :D Ill keep an eye out for you.

  6. good luck on finding the person who did it and with the repair. Ive only had a hand full on incidents on my truck like people hitting the mirrors there are a few scratches and on my rear bumper it seems that someone with a really low white car got underneath my bumper one time or another and the right half is very slightly pushed upward. Its very hard to tell from standing and just looking at it but I can notice it. Some people just have no respect for other peoples things and it pisses me off.

  7. if you find them on a website you will be paying more then you will on ebay. There is nothing wrong with buying on ebay just look at reviews and ratings and decide who you want to buy from. Just go on ebaymotors.com and search for 03 silverado headlights and you will come up with a bunch of headlights including replacements. If the black ones are what your looking for search 03 silverado headlights BK or BLK and you should fine those exact headlights.

  8. I still have my factory alarm/security system and I'm noticing more and more that say when I get home from work (just an example) when I get out of the truck and push the lock button the door lock seems to engage then pause for about a second then finish locking. Is signs of a weak actuator? It doesn't do it all the time but it seems to happening more and more often. I'm not that concerned about it as it still works fine but I'm just wondering if this can be common or am I looking at a replacement in the future? BTW its about 50 degrees outside so nothing cold yet :uhoh:

    Thanks

  9. All these thefts make me wanna go get a very good alarm system on my truck and surveillance cameras outside my house looking at my truck. Damn theives piss me off and stupid bastards who vandalize property to. My dads truck has been egged numerous times overnight but no witnesses. One of these nights I wanna sit out in the truck and wait for someone to drive by and hit the truck and then chase there asses down.

  10. I warned you!!! I would keep that part number handy for next time or save a rear pad to take it with you to make sure next time. Going back and forth for parts sucks :banghead:

I know you did but in the system it said 03 chevy 1500 awd 6.0 and i was thinking well thats gotta be right. Oh well its only a 5 min drive back. Its all taken care of now so I'm happy :chevy:

  11. Well from what I can tell Adams is more of a Machine use product line although they do have hand application products their main focus seems to be machine apps. There isn't one thing wrong with Adams. I have used a few of their products myself and love them but it all depends on what you want and feel comfortable doing. I'm not one to wax every weekend it just takes alot of time to do it so better protection is better for me. Each company has products that you may like better then the other. If you really want to tell what may or may not work better for you just go to both compay websites and look at their testimonials and pictures.

  12. its ok we got it figured out. Its all apart and in the process of putting it back together. My fronts were ok for now at least another year worth I would say so I saved 100+ dollars on those. But the rears were absolutly terrible. On the back side of the rear rotors there was only contact about the width of my index finger. They were bad. We had to go back to Autozone for different pads becasue what they said were right were wrong. We looked up a 1500 HD 4x4 and they were the right pads for the rear, not sure about the front as we never removed them. Thanks all for the help.

  13. ok well we are trying to get the rear calipers off but the bolts seem to have some kind of shoulder on them and they just look like they were designed to not come out. We are turning on the bolts on the back side of the calipers on each corner. We are turning the right ones right? Please someone help us out this is really starting to P me off!
