I dont think you over did it at all. It looks like a really nice clean install. I would've just used unistrut if I did mine, but yours looks great
first thanx for the complement and welcome to the forum theres tons of great info on here... Isnt unsitrut a channel like kindorf... kindorf was actually my first thought, however how would u be able to attach everything if one side is open... i thought bout laying it on its side but then i didnt think it would support the weight, so if figured i could add a piece of steel on the side to close it all up but then all i did was make a square tube... the main problem is i couldnt find it w/ the dimensions i was looking for... ill have to check out the unistrut stuff it maybe an easier/better way to go...

thanx for the help guys.... i have some things to think about now...
racre j - i was thinkin bout an x-pipe but i just didnt think it would make a big difference in back pressure... good to know
prof..1 - good article bookmarked and printed
prof..1 and kelley perf..- so u think 2 1/2" true dual and a good tune, even w/ a future supercharger, should be sufficient...
thanx again guys i love this site, learnin alot...

ok so i have been tryin to decide how im goin to go about doin my exhaust system... the plan is to do a 3" true dual setup w/ longtubes high flow cats and borla mufflers...... my problem is w/ the longtubes, ive been researchin and everything so im not askin question bout which headers etc... i think im gonna go w/ pacesetters.... my question is regarding back pressure... i realize that right now w/ out any head or cam mods and no forced induction 3" is not worth doin b/c i will have less back pressure than what is recomended... but later on i want to get a k.b. twin screw... so 3" seems feasible for down the road.... so heres the main question... if i do my 3" setup now and put a "restricter" plate in between two flanges w/ say a 2.25" whole would this creat enough back pressure to make it worth while for now, and then simply remove the plate for down the road...
here is a sketch in case i didnt describe it right
-
yeah im debating on this same thing right now... im goin back n forth over the pacesetters and obx... theres pro's n con's either way u go... i just keep researchin but cant come to a decision yet... im interested to hear what u find out, and ur opinions that will lead u to ur decision
-
u did the right thing bro... i would have done the same...
-
i hate to keep buggin ya.. but i will anyway
any info yet... startin to get colder and a skull and hoody would help that

Pace setters have a 3" collector. OBX/Dynatech have 2.5". Stock is 2.25". I love my pace setters except that they are not bolt in because of the custom fab for the y-pipes basically. Some of the welds on my custom pipes are leaking after 40k miles and need to be re-done. I live in a snow belt and drive it year round...it was expected. I wanted to go to OBX to avoid this. If you are in Cali or southern climates then it is no issue. After paying $225 to have y-pipes made and welded in the first time and now going to pay for it again...you can sense my frustration that the obx were not around when I started the project, I would be out far less money.
i live in Staten Island NY and spend a good amount of time upstate so snow will be an issue for me some what... ill have to keep the leakin issue in mind while i am choosin... the obx seemed purty cool since they were a whole package and stainless for a great price... plus i plan on doin this myself so it would have made my life a bit easer to fab the dual cat backs... but since i wont be able to use the rest of the system im leaning away from them now... not to mention the coated pacesetter's shouldnt wick as much heat as the obx and im gonna be doin some fiberglass work under the hood so this may help to keep anything from warpin on me....
-
You can EASILY change out the collector. For the quality of these headers in stainless steel, and for the price nobody can match them at the moment.
would it still be worth i tho if im just gonna drop the intermediate pipes and the cats since those are smaller... it might make more sense to get coated pacesetter w/ 3" cats right off the bat... unless the quality is that different between the obx n pacesetters... just thinkin out loud right now ive just started researchin the headers so im not sure just yet what im gonna do... thanx for the comments boon its somin to think bout....
