  1. Just a little something I dug up when researching. lol. Nice build BTW!
  2. Havasu is overrated IMO. Fun as hell but there are better places. Don't bother with Havasu if you don't have a boat.
  3. Nevermind. Picked one up.
  4. I'm about to start tuning and would like a backup PCM just incase. 03 SS PCM preferred. Will consider others though.
  5. Thanks Speedfrk73z. 8.25 IFS Torque Specs (cont.) : Ring Gear Bolts: 120 Nm (88 lb ft)
  6. WOW, alot of unhappy trucks... It's nice to see everyone posting up their finds: places to get reman units, their own problems, torque specs, symptoms, ect. This will be valuable information for anyone who might need an answer. Thanks everyone for their input. So far I have about 400-500 miles on my rebuild and will put another 3000 around C-mas time. I will update this thread if necessary. P.S. I have access to Mitchell on Demand and am a mechanic so if anyone had any questions i.e. assembly/disassasembly or specs just ask.
  7. Congratulations! Thats a sharp looking rifle. How do you like it?
  8. Yeah we should. Dustys truck has been running for a while now. When do you expect to have her together? Keep up the good work! This build has alot of sex appeal to it.
  9. Mine would also make noise occationally before I had it fixed at most speeds when the load was taken off such as a going downhill. While I'm thinking about it how often do you guys change your front/ rear end fluids? To be honest I don't know that before I bought the truck that the axle fluid has ever been changed. Kind of overlooked that. Now dare I change the rear end fluid? Sick03ss-Before you bring it in pull the drain and check for metal. In case you havent already. I hope it's nothing. Mr. P. - At what speed does yours make noise? And just curious how much did yoiur salvage unit cost, just as a comparison? Booth, maverik & ledfoot- Sorry to hear about your guys problems also. It's sad the see so many having problems. I was kind of hoping I was one of the only ones. What are they doing at GM? Rays B4U- Thanks for sharing. It's very suprising ( for me at least) to see this occuring at such low mileage. I got everything together today and drove it about 30 miles. I am super paranoid about noises now and I hear everything . Well nothing unusual yet. I will continue to drive it for a couple weeks instead of my daily driver and hopefully all is well in gearland.
  10. Congrats on the record! It stood for a long time. Now things get intereesting...
  11. Ever since I bought this truck about 6 months ago it has had this very slight intermittent noise coming from the front end, mostly under light throttle. It just recently got louder and I put it up on the lift and checked around. I found the drivers side inner axle having way too much play. I assumed it was just the axle bearing. I removed the axle seal and found a piece of metal sitting next to the diff. bearing adjustment nut. It was the lock to keep the nut from backing off. The nut and the sleeve that the nut goes in were loose and I could see the ring gear and it was worn badly. After popping the case open I realized that there was little that could be saved. The nut had backed off some and allowed the diff to move around. I priced the tools to rebuild it compared to the labor and the tools were more expensive so I had it rebuilt by Driveline Service in Reno. Total was $1101 with labor at $390. Not what I really wanted to spend money on but what can you do? Turnaround on the rebuild was less that one day, so I was impressed with that at least. I'm installing the front axle today so hopefully things will be ok. For the break-in Driveline Service recommended that I change the fluid after 5000 miles then every 10,000 after that. It's just funny looking back at it all. The previous owner (Creederado) took it to a shop when he owned it and they told him that this noise is normal for these trucks, although he knew better. At that time the mileage must had been in the neighborhood of 30,000-35,000 and now it is at 50,000. Not high mileage by any means. Is this just a fluke that the diff. bearing adjustment nut lock broke and took everything else with it? Or is it just the assemblers carelessness? Either way I just thought this sucked and thought I'd share. Does anyone else have a noise?
  12. Those are beautiful! Pretty trick parts.
  13. Nice job! Thanks for the video.
  14. It may be the axle shaft bearing causing the noise. Jack up the front end and see if there is much play in the axle shaft (inners). If there is excessive play (there should be very little to none) then you have a bearing out. Good luck.
  15. Nice! Keiths gotta be excited with that. Thanks for posting.
  16. Nice job man!! Has to be a good feeling.
  17. Have you done any other custom pieces? If so would you care to show? Excellent work.
  18. Truck looks good man! I've been debating on using it or not. I'll have to pick some up.
  19. Yeah it is that bad. Not humid though. Might be a little better at the Fallon track but the one in Fernley is lame. Usually half a second slower in Fernley than in Sacramento. So maybe .3-.4 slower in Fallon than sea level. Give me shout when you are up here.
  20. I ran a new Challenger myself yesterday. Well he ran me... I haven't kept up on when the new Camaro is due so at first I though it was a camaro and I slowed from 80 to 65 to let him catch up so I could see it. He noticed and though I wanted to run. Next thing I know the damn thing was way out in front and pulling away fast. I tried to catch up but it wasn't happening at all. Pretty nice looking car.
  21. Thats how I understood it to mean. In relation to desertss "only" going a 16.5-16.7. So realisticaly desertss's stockish SSS should have ran close to the high 14, low 15 mark and Keith's time should have read closer to low 13's, mid 13's.
  22. LOL gotcha sorry... If it makes you feel better my wifes name is Dave.
  23. Nice! Thanks for posting Erin. Did you get to talk to the vette guy? He must had been mystified, lol.
  24. Not sure if he is from Dayton. His name is Keith and yeah his friend is the one with the Evo and blue SSS.
