How Do I Prevent Theft Via Tow Truck?
ss wrecker replied to misterp's topic in Radio/Electronics/Security
if they have a tow truck like i have even slammed if they want they're gonna take it. the equipment on the market is amazing and gets better every day. the turned steering wheel trick is a good idea except most gm trucks after 02 don't have locking steering so it can be straightened out. and if you back in your truck can be put in neutral very easy, now if you set the ebrakes that makes it harder if its backed in. also if there is a curb get your wheels all the way up to it because dollies are not easy to install when you can't get behind the tire. just a little info from one of your friendly wrecker drivers on the site -

yeah you need to trim all the threads that stick out of the end of the nut on the balljoint
-
i had a similar issue with my wrecker somehow one of the pins got bent and the right brake pads were eaten up very quickly. replaced them and haven't had a problem since
-
youll need an adaptor search in the how to section for mean05 he did that swap on his truck
-
the loctite was for the end of the stud that goes into the bowtie not the end for the nuts.
