  1. I have a 2004 Victory Red SSS that I bought in Troy, NC. I joined this site in January, 2007. Back then most of the talk was about modifications and DRAMA. I couldn't take the DRAMA and testosterone and quit coming around. I didn't get tired of the SSS so I parked it in a heated warehouse with thirty something thousand miles on it. I drive it occasionally, and it has just over 40,000 miles now. Now the site seems to be more about parts and maintaining the truck, and of course mods will always be a part of these trucks, but the DRAMA is gone. I have been looking around the last couple of days and it seems like the people here now are here to help others with a like interest. Hence my title. I don't know if the moderators cleaned the site up or if the drama queens moved on to something else, but congratulations to this site for cleaning itself up, and being a quality resource for these trucks. Larry
  2. I just installed one from eBay. Prepainted, less than $400 delivered, and it fit like a glove. Judging from the mold markings, it was made in the same mold as the original.
  3. I haven't been on here in a long time, but I wondered if Chase truck is still around.
  4. I used to hang around here a lot, then I got busy and turned my focus to my other passion, 67-72's (I bought a 72 Cheyenne new) and parked the SSS in the corner for a while. I really hadn't thought too much about it until a friend called the other day and wanted to know if I would sell my SSS. I keep a battery on it, so it's ready to go. and I've been thinking about getting it out and driving it. Novel thought, Huh. I see a few names I recognize and look forward to checking in once in a while. Mods, I've not looked around enough to know yet, but their seemed to be a lot of arguing and bickering when I left before. I don't need that crap, I get to argue and bicker at work. Anyway, I have a 2004 Victory Red SSS with 40,000 miles, I live in North Arkansas, and I'm 63 years old. I look forward to seeing what you guys are doing with your trucks. Larry
  5. Mine squeaked when the suspension moved. Turned out the shock rod was rubbing against the shock mount. I just loosened up the top of the shock and set the bushings in the center of the hole and tightened it back down. It was apparently installed off center at the factory.
  6. Kearny Street is on the north side of Springfield, MO "Old Route 66". Cruising got so heavy there at one time that the city banned it. Now they have "cruise ins" at a different drive in along Glenstone every Sat. nite.
  7. You guys ought to try to hit one of the car shows at Eureka or Branson. Usually easier if you tell the wife about the outlet malls or antique shops. Branson Super Summer Cruise is August 9-11. I haven't stayed married 36 years and built my collection of cars by being stupid about this stuff.
  8. I see an SSS in Harrison Ar with MO tags about once a week. Assumed it's a salesman. I thought they banned cruising on Kearny. You going to the all GM show @ Thompson Caddilac Saturday?
  9. Don't trade. I'm a lucky old fart with an SSS and a 71 big block Corvette convertible. The Corvette will get old in a hurry if its your only ride. Corvettes are like women, the faster they are the more fun they are but damn they can be a lot of trouble.
  10. I have; 2001 Z71 80,000 mi 2004 SSS 16,000 2005 K2500 duramax 20,000 They all have the thud in the steering. Just had a lube kit in the duramax. Will help temporarily.
  11. Interesting how Teddy Roosevelt could see this coming!
  12. Listen, I'm no holy roller but try church. A lot of the women I know have gone to church after a bad relationship. At least your looking at them through clear eyes, not through the bottom of a bud light bottle (the girls all get prettier at closing time). As far as your being old, "baloney". When I was 33 I had a wife and two baby girls and my company was struggling to the point my dad had to pay my utilities bills a couple of months (no time for toys like SSS's). When you get in the dumps, think of someone who really has a problem and you'll realize you can "do" something about your problems. Keep your head up and go wash your truck.
