Air - Fuel Ratio Gauge

Recommended Posts

The Dakota gauge is far better than one of the gauges that tap into your stock O2 sensors.  If you look at the sending unit data, it's a 3-wire heated O2 sensor.  So it's not using the stock O2, it has it's own.  Not sure if it's a wideband type, but may be adaptable.

I would definitely get that one over one of the kind that piggyback my stock O2s.

Unless its wideband, its still a waste of money. For $79.95 I doubt it is a wideband sensor, or it is, a very cheap one. As I mentioned above, without the translation for your vehicle from mV to AFR, this gauge doesn't give you any extra useful information.

Yeah, I know. I would definitely get this one though, over one of the really cheap type that tap into stock wires. Mv can still give you rich/lean condition, which is what the majority look at any kind of AFR gauge for anyway. I wouldn't use it for fine tuning.

Spoke to somebody today, told me the 4-wire sensor is wideband, 2 white 1gray and one black wire. two are from an heating-element inside the sensor one needs 12v and one to the meter, he will fax me the instruction.

Edit: ithink he is wrong about the colors: http://www.lambdasensor.com/main/mcolours1.htm

And here I just thought it was some kind of nickname for something :happysad: I haven't been on LS1tech in about 3-4 months for any length of time.

Seems a little overkill for my taste, but a pretty cool tool. My luck, all the wires and sensors that have to be run would be done wrong. Didn't exactly like the part about needing an extinguisher. One fire under the hood is enough for a lifetime. :banghead:
