texci77 Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 Can any tell me how I can get the transmission pan off of my car? I can't get it out, not enough clearance. Thanks
Dylan06SS Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 I'm assuming its not clearing the exhaust? If thats the case unbolt the pipe from the manifold and that'll give you enough room to wiggle the pan out of there. From what I can tell, unless you've made drastic changes to the diamater of exhaust you should be able to drop the pan w/o unbolting anything.
texci77 Posted January 23, 2005 Author Report Posted January 23, 2005 The shift linkage and the exhaust is what's getting in the way!! Thinking I may have to unbolt the exhaust like you suggested, thanks.

Thinking I may have to unbolt the exhaust like you suggested, thanks. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You should be able to get around the exhaust, if not, just do like Dylan mentioned. The metal bracket holding the gear cable is what is the hardest to get around. You have two choices, either get a hex socket and remove the two bolts holding it in, or as I have done a few times, just bend it out of the way just enough to clear the pan. I like removing the bolts, but they are hard to get at and I broke my socket last time I tried to do it that way. Just be easy with the bracket if you decide to bend it out of the way.
deezel Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 I just bent the bracket like Ben suggests. Actually, it wasn't really even bending, more like flexing. Just pull the shift linkage out of it, then push the bracket aside enough to allow the pan to drop down.
