howardl Posted July 6, 2003 Report Share Posted July 6, 2003 I went looking for a cap and the first place I went to said that I would have to remove the painted guard from the top of the tale gate and install a regular black silverado part. any one else have this done? dcairns Posted July 6, 2003 Report Share Posted July 6, 2003 I had my tailgate protector removed. It came off easily with some pulling. After that, some clean up to get rid of the gummy residue. Chad They are actually quite different than the Silverado (black) ones. The SS one has much less of a lip and does not stick out all the way across like the standard one.
