zippy Posted June 27, 2005 Report Share Posted June 27, 2005 that really is a tough question to answer. having more stall certainly allows for more cushion on the shift by allowing the torque converter to take more of the slippage instead of the trans. with naturally asperated applications it's not too difficult of a choice. you simply go with as high as you can get away with for the street and not overheat the trans. with something like a radix underhood you're getting so much more torque down low that you'd be slowing the truck down by having it stall real high. to complicate matters something with a radix for example on it requires alot tighter converter due to the high torque. a converter that would stall 2600 behind a stock 6.0L will stall at around 2900-3000 behind a radix truck. this unfortunatly forces you to run alot tighter converter than you'd like to for the shock load issue. it's kinda an uphill battle of finding the right application.
