Bowtie70SS
I was at Super Chevy Indy today. Superchips was there with their mobile dyno. They happened to be dynoing a 04 JG 5.3 auto with a 3.6 pulley. It put down a whopping 240hp. The truck had around 10k on the clock and looked perfect, I liked it a lot. Anyhow they were gonna tune it but due to the warranty they had to hold off. Also one of the owners of HP tuners was there on Saturday. I wish I could have talked to him. Anyway Superchips is now partnered up with HP tuners and good things are to come. New software to use with a hand held tuner, live tuning, and new versions of the tuning software. The super chips guys offered me free tickets to Maple Grove, PA and a free dyno tune if I would show up. HOW COOL!! I wish I could make it. Overall with all of the show, and the car action and burnouts at the hotel it was a very exciting weekend. Later Dave
misterp
Would that be a free AWD dyno tune?!
Z4pp
240 -_- does that mean our trucks are faster than those?
disguisedSS
240 doesn't sound right... maybe 340?
Posi12Bolt
put a 3.0 pulley on it... problem fixed!
Bowtie70SS
They didn't have a AWD dyno...I'd have to pull the shaft. Also the real problem, IMO is that the JG trucks are rated around 380hp with the SC. The girl told me the truck ran a 14.17, but remeber that it weighs around 1700lbs less than ours. I'm not sour about it but 42k is a lot of money to spend for a std cab truck with a 5.3, wheels and a SC. Dave
fordsareslow
Something had to have been wrong with the dyno. I would think a stock 5.3 would make those kind of numbers
misterp
put a 3.0 pulley on it... problem fixed! A JG truck showed-up at a GTG in Arlington last November - if memory serves right he told me that the pulley was not changeable, well not without a total PITA
ChevyMan23
Theres no way thats a right number....my stock 5.3 put down 220 to the ground......someones numbers are screwed up or the dyno was way off...
2004gibbstruck
That # seems very wrong. Two years ago mine made 326 hp at the rear wheels on the dyno @ the Car Craft summer nats. That was all stock after pulling a GMC Typhoon 150 miles on the trailer from Duluth. I think it would have been a little better if it wasn't so hot. With the 3.6 pulley, they only make 5psi of boost. The best 1/4 mile time so far is 13.8 @ 97mph.

It's a pain if you don't have the puller. Most smaller aftermarket pullies I've seen come with the puller though, so no big deal...

I try to leave off idle. If I build boost or flash the converter, it spins too much. I'm thinking some 18" nitto drag radials would be a big help. I leave off idle and only about 1/2 throttle for the first 60' or so otherwise it just makes a nice smoke show.
TTUtim
240hp ??? That definitely sounds off, 330-340 is much more realistic. SS bnoon, any ideas where to get the puller? I've also heard the pullies can not be switched out, because they are molded on? Edited July 18, 2006 by TTUtim (see edit history)
