kissfans03ss
Hey all,the first winter I had my vw i was unable to properly clean my wheels,as a result brake dust slowly built up and hardened on the painted aluminum surface, does anyone have a way to remove the build up?I tried a scotch brite pad but it is murder on the fingers after a while and can put light scratches on the painted surface.thanks in advance . walkerda
You shouldn't use Scotch Brite pads for cleaning the wheels, Red (Maroon) pads are ~320 grit Gray pads are~600 grit Gold colored pads are ~900 grit. 3M and Norton both make a WHITE hand pad, it is non abrasive. It works good for cleaning windows while in a manual car wash or cleaning off headlights. They can be found at automotive paint stores...the White pads are the least popular Norton part number is 58001(Bear-Tex) 3M pad is #7445 (Scotch Brite). I would try the White pad and vineagar.
