perk03z06
Anyone on here know if the VHO's come w/ switchable 4WD? My SS has been in the shop for almost 2 weeks now, the front end getting rebuilt. The first week went by before the warranty adjuster even came out, but he approved all the labor and parts. I'm concerned about the SS's lifespan. I have never owned a vehicle that needed so much work done before 60K miles ... Full A/C System replacement, front end bearings, and the instrument cluster died when the shop jumped the dead battery. If I didn't have the warranty, I would have easily spent close to $3,000 on repairs. I'm glad I bought it. Feedback is most appreciated. Thanks! pimp ss
Not all of them are bad maybe just a little bad luck. The ac could happen on anything ss or not. The gauges could definitly happen on anything and the front diff could also happen on a reg 4wd.
Red03SillSS
Are you sure whoever changes your oil kept the front bearings greased?
DeeHutch
I'm not sure i'd give the SS up for a VHO. VHO's are nice trucks, just as nice as the SS's but still. Just sell it and buy another SS if you think the one you have was built on a Friday......
perk03z06
Yep, and I grease them every 3. Are you sure whoever changes your oil kept the front bearings greased? <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
perk03z06
A little bad luck? Don't get me wrong I do my SS. BUT ... It seems everytime I turn around on here, someone is posting questions or concerns about the SS's most common problems ... Front end growl/noise, steering shaft clunk, Inst. Panl. Gauges going bad, the A/C Compressor falling apart, CD changer eating CD's or locking up, and just about every module on these trucks has at least 1 software update, if not more ... Driver's Seat Module, Transfer Case Module, PCM, HVAC Module, etc. I guess I just don't understand how so many problems can occur short of 60K miles when the truck is maintained beyond factory specs, and most of the mileage is highway. OK, I'm done ... sorry guys. Not all of them are bad maybe just a little bad luck. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Thanks! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> and also you had hit on a good point about how your SS has had many problems before you reached 60k, i've read on hear a lot about how the SS owners all experience almost the same problems, you'll almost never find those problems on the VHO because we're mainly 2wd, i'd say trade it in for a vortec max 4x4 if that's what you want
ChevySSandChevy8.1
I haven't had problems, some cars are just lemons. I'm especially weary of used ones. VHO does have the 2hi 4 lo 4hi system, if you want awd you can still opt for the sierra denali. I've had some problematic cars and I always get rid of them before warranty.
