Steering shaft noise when cold.

Anyone else have this nasty rubber-on-metal squealing/squirming noise when turning the wheel when you first get in the truck?

Its definitely coming from the inside the cab. It sounds like a seal or something rubber is rubbing on the steering shaft. For whatever reason, it only happens when the truck has been sitting for some time. It's similar to two baloons rubbing together, just not THAT annoying.

I went nuts with WD40 then some Lithium grease on the seal/bearing on the inside of the fire-wall, but it only quieted the noise - it didn't stop it. I haven't had the time (or daylight) to really dig into it.

Anyone find exactly where it's coming from?

just got some info on it. it's likely to be the boot at the bottom of the steering column or the bearing for it. they recomend using 12345579 dielectric grease to lube it. supposed to be the fix.
