zerics
Hi Fellas. I have an oppurtunity to pick up a tranny out of the Silverado SS and I wanted to drop it into an older truck. Here is what I want to do. 2003 SS 4l65-E TRanny Droped into a 95 GMC Yukon 4X4 (Replacing The 4L60-E) First of all, will it work? If So, what kind of modifiactions do I need to make. Since its electronicaly controled do i need any kind of new ecm? Will I notice any performance jump? My Current Yukon tranny was built for towing and its gearing is horrible. Anything else I should know before I decide to do this? I really appriciate the help. Thanks
zippy
what you should know is that even though the bellhousing bolt pattern is the same, you're going to need a different one. i believe the input shaft is also going to be the wrong lengnth. the gearing in the two is the same btw. transmissions from behind a gen III engines don't just bolt up to a gen I or gen II engine for the same reason the torque converters don't interchange.
