supraman
Would there have to be some major pcm mods for this too work? I am thinking so....
BigTex
I think it will idle just about like stock. It won't make much more power in the lower rpms, but above 3000 rpms it will pull alot harder. I do suggest that you raise your shift points to the 6000 range to take full advantage of the power. zippy
it'd work fine, just going to need a few pcm changes, but other than that you should be fine. you'll be begging for more stall at that point.
supraman
Well I have the diablo and all the shift points and rev limit is maxed out. What pcm changes do you think Zippy?
SSminneapolis
off subject - Supraman, how are those wires holding up for you? i was thinking of ordering the taylors but wasn't sure how they were...
supraman
Can't really tell any improvement except for them not sitting on my headers like the stock ones.
zippy
mostly spark advance, a.f. ratio, idle speed, and shift points. you could slip by with the diablo, it'll just leave some room for improvement is all.
supraman
Why hasn't anyone else tried this or have they? I am led to think this setup would yield more hp than the comp cam setup??
BenKey
I guess it depends on which Comp Cam you choose. They also custom grind them, as well, for about the same price.
BigTex
Well, I had a 2001 LS6 cam in my 5.3 truck. It ran fine, but there are better options available. The 02 LS6 cam is like 208 218 and .550 lift I think. The mild comp 212 218 cam has more duration than the LS6. It might make just a bit more HP than the comp 212/218, but I guarantee you that the comp will have more low end power.
scandore
DESCRIPTION: CAMSHAFT .550"intake and exhasut lift-218 degree exhaust duration, and 204 degree intake duration at .050, and 117.5 degree lobe centers. Z06-Specific Higher Lift Camshaft As the intake air comes through the manifolds in greater volume, it is important for the air to enter the combustion chamber as quickly as possible to produce power. The LS6 engine has a camshaft that has higher lift lobes than the LS1, resulting in a 5 percent increase in airflow through the cylinder chamber
BenKey
Is that 5% increase when it is coupled with the different heads?
scandore
Ben I believe that is just the cam but Im not sure. I got that from the part description on the cam.
