Most likely not enough heat in the O2's causing a searching idle. ...
That's a part of it, but biggest factor is that the engine is actually sucking back cold, fresh air into the collector during reversion; on the exhaust pulse (exiting the engine) the O2 sensor gets a good read but a split second later (during reversion) the O2 sensor sees an inrush of cold fresh outside air and reports a lean condition - your PCM is totally confused because the O2 sensors are reporting "we're OK on the AFR, no wait we're LEAN, no wait OK again, no wait LEAN again..." about 15 times a second and the PCM cannot second-guess what the hell is going on. Answer = you should mount an O2 sensor at least a couple feet upstream of the end of the pipe so it is not affected by reversion at idle.

Nope. In fact, the new exhaust will eliminate the port for one unless I can put it into the front o2 holes.

Wideband O2 guage makers have already thought of this for you - when you buy a wideband kit, you replace the original front O2 sensor with the WB one and the electronics not only report to the guage but also to the PCM.
