scandore
I was wanting to get another PCM for tuning but was not sure if I had to find one from a same year SS or just any 6.0 any recent year or what.
SSminneapolis
best bet is to call whomever you are getting your custom tune from and ask them what they want.
PCMFORLESS
You need a PCM with the service number of 12582605 Most 03 6.0 trucks and some 5.3's have it.

BigTex
I've got an extra one. I'll check the service number on it. Its out of a 2003 Silverado HD. I don't need it. I'm just not sure what the going rate is for the 03 truck PCM. I know its different than the prior year models.
2bseen
For programing purpose could you use a 02 pcm flash it, so that you could plug in ls1edit b/c it cann't be plugged in on a 03 pcm without taking it out of the truck. I did this on my hawk b/c at the time edit wasn't available for the 01 so I bought a 00 pcm and used it.
Farmtruc
The 411 pcms are good for 99-02 only, like pcmless said, the 605 (and there's another one, i think it's 106) are only good for the 03 and 04's. good luck, allen
Nightshift
When Wester's did mine he said any '03 GM truck. I paid $125 for a used one. WW
PCMFORLESS
The 03 will work in an 04 truck (I have done this with my own) but the proper number for the 04 PCM is 12586242. I have not tried an 04 in an 03 truck, but would assume it works. THe 04 number seems to be consistent to all trucks while the 03 has the 2 service numbers. I think the only problem with trying to make an 02 PCM work is that the 03/04 trucks use the blue and green connectors and the 02's use the blue and red. I have looked up the pinouts and a few of them are different. Even if you changed them around I have a bad feeling some of the other onboard computers would not come online as well with the 02 PCM. Good thought though. Later, Bryan
Farmtruc
Also, an 02 (411) pcm cannot be flashed with an 03/4 calibration, at least not with my GM flashing tools. Maybe there is some other tool that can. later, allen
BigTex
I don't think its possible to flash an 02 to an 03. I was having Lingenfelter do some programming for a project, and there was nothing they could do to an older PCM to make it an 03.
PCMFORLESS
That is correct. The file sizes are different and the GM tech 2 SPS will not flash them as the other guys have noted. Also the SPS will not flash an 04 with an 03 file or vice versa. Later, Bryan
Farmtruc
Also the SPS will not flash an 04 with an 03 file or vice versa.Later, Bryan I'm using a Genisys and GM software to flash my pcms, and I can take any 605 out of an 03/04 and flash it with an 03/04 VIN/calibration. For example, when a customer purchases a pcm and thier truck is an '03, I can grab a pcm from a 04 and flash it with an 03, and then vice versa, or I can flash an '04 pcm with '03 VIN/calibration. In my experience they are interchangeable and no problems at all. To flash an '04 though it's a little tricky sometimes, depending on what version and what month you have. later, allen

PCMFORLESS
Hmm, my SPS is one of the EASE diagnostic units and I do have the newest update from GM, but will try the 03 flash into the 04 PCM again. My unit may not be allowing it. Thanks for the heads up as I will try it again. Thanks, Bryan
