Vortec MAX Posted November 30, 2007 Report Share Posted November 30, 2007 (edited) I go by the OLM and use Mobil 1 synthetic. The oil life monitor is calibrated for standard oil. The synthetic will never degrade before standard, so it is like a safety factor of sorts. I always seem to change it before it reaches "zero" however. I guess I am impatient On my Maxima, I change it at 5,000 mile intervals, using Mobil1. It's easy to keep track of this way. Each time the odometer reaches a 5K mile point, I change the oil.
