SSomeday Posted March 8, 2004 Report Share Posted March 8, 2004 Hey guys I have a 94 LT1 9C1 Caprice. I really like the engine. I was just wondering what the difference is between the two. My block is iron not aluminium (sp?)like the corvette and camaro. I am looking to get a Silverado SS just wanted to know what the performance potential is comparing the too. zippy Posted March 8, 2004 Report Share Posted March 8, 2004 well, there is almost nothing comparable in the two. the 6.0 uses a far superior ignition system, a water pump that can go more than 30k without leaking, 1.7 ratio roller rockers, 6 bolt main caps, intake manifold that has oil contact (has a solid valley pan/plate to cover that) which means less chance for oil leaks, and aluminum instead of cast iron heads that flow like open tubes compared to the stock LT1 heads. performance wise the LQ9 is lightyears ahead of the LT1 b-body version.
