FireRescueSS
AWD systems due tend to make awful sounds pretty frequently, just a flaw/draw back of being AWD... how ever, metal shavings in any of your trucks fluids, is not a real good sign. mean05
mine has held up to some pretty hard abuse so far....i have looked around and they really dont make any kind of locker for the 2 piece front diff
detjoe
this is an interesting area for the SSS. Few have killed them from power, but many have had them be noisy and need repair. Mr. P has hinted at using some 4X4 shops to figure out the front end. Both the CS and upgrading the half shafts to maybe get lower? and stronger, but again few issues with those
zippy
I don't know of any that have broken them from power, but my memory isn't that good. Mr P. broke his, but he is about 300hp or more shy of the fastest SSS trucks using stock front diff's. His wasn't overpowered by any means. The front differentials are just common to bearing failures due to a lubrication and heat issue. Just get it rebuilt using quality parts and good fluid, you should be fine.
