Les Hall
I know a guy with an 07 or 08 2wd V-Max who says his truck stops pulling at 95mph,,,,I thought that was odd since the 5.3's don't stop pulling till 100mph,,,,the guy is just 16 and his dad bought him the truck,, I was thinking maybe his dad had used a handheld to make it not go over 95mph? but then again if I was to go to all that trouble I'd have stopped it at like 75mph for a 16yr old,,,,,anyways so what is the top speed on those from the factory? Les Hall
I guess it is factory, just don't see why they set the 4.8's & 5.3's to run till 100mph,,,but stop the 6.0 at 95mph??? , thanks for the info
huero626
My V-Max on stock tune would only go up to 92mph, it goes over 120mph with my Black Bear Tune.
04chevyz71
since the 5.3's don't stop pulling till 100mph my 5.3 cuts out at 95...
Les Hall
my 5.3 cuts out at 95... Must be certain one's before I got an SS I had a 99 5.3 2wd silverado, it shut down at 100mph exactly, and i got a friend here with an 06 swb 5.3 that is the same,
misterp
The MPH governor on the stock PCM for 2WD EC rear-drum brake trucks is 98-mph; the factory sets this value based on the tires and brakes originally fit on the vehicle. The CC trucks might be 95-mph because of GVW but I don't think so, I belive they are set to 98-mph like the EC trucks are. Mr. P. Edited January 18, 2009 by Mr. P. Jaymz
if he still has factory tires on, just read the speed rating. Governer will shut down at top recommended speed rating of factory tire.
