Heading To Vegas And Grand Canyon

Recommended Posts

The plan is to fly out to Vegas, spend a day or two there, rent a car and drive to the Grand Canyon for 3-4 days. Then back to vegas and home. 2nd or 3rd week of May. We were in Vegas about 25 years ago so I'm sure it's completely different now. Looking at staying at the Luxor and the South side of the canyon.

Figured we have lots of members in or near Vegas that might be able to shed some insight on what to look for or look out for in that area. Anybody made that trip? Good/bad experiences?

I love vegas, been there many many times, and my sister lives there. The Luxor is a nice hotel, actually all the hotels on the strip are nice. I have stayed at the Luxor, Venetian, Belagio, and New York New York, and i think the Venetian was the best. If you get a chance you have to see a show of some sort, the only problem is they are fairly expensive. Go see one of the Circ De Sole's like Mystere, or Ra, you might want to stay away from Zumanity (its almost like hardcore porn), or go see Blue Man Group, i have seen them 3 times and would go again in a second.

As for the Grand Canyon, i have only flown there on a helicopter from Vegas, but thats not really the impressive part of the canyon. Im going to be going there in early in may though.

Have fun on the trip i know theres lots of guys on the forum from vegas and they can help you out more than i can

I haven't been to Vegas, but if this is your first time seeing the Grand Canyon, be prepared to be amazed.

When I was younger, my parents took us to the canyon. I wasn't excited at all, but once I got there I couldn't beleive what I saw.

If your coming in May, then bring your shorts, cause its a hot mo fo in may! Depending on what part of may, it will be in the 100's by then. You can stay in the casino's to keep you cool. It has changed alot since you've been here. I've been here for 23 years. Try the Hard Rock too, lots to see here. Just do a search on Vegas, and it will give you alot to do in couple of days. Most people walk the strip and check everything out. Bring lots of film or memory sticks for your camera too. Get some great shots at night with all the lights. Good luck Bob.

On your way out to the Grand Canyon you'll pass the Hoover Dam. Check that out, it's pretty cool. The drive out that way is a blast with alot of fun curves and stuff. Hopefully you'll enjoy it as much as I do here. Make sure to walk through some of the casino's as they are some of the best looking buildings I've ever seen.

I forgot that you're out there Zippy. :banghead: Want to loan your truck out for a week? I promise to keep it under 140. Most of the time. :jester:

We went to Hoover Dam the 1st time we were there. It's pretty impressive. We talked about moving there years ago but couldn't sell our house here at the time. Glad to hear you like it out there. Nice and warm most of the time. I know you like the Michigan winters about as much as I do. :D
