Well that will depend on where you live and what you use the truck for.

Mine is AWD and living in Oregon it was necessary to have a AWD or 4X4 Truck because of the snow, and its nice in the rain too. Now that i live in Tucson AZ a 2wd truck would prob be just fine for me.

On the other hand if you plan on racing your truck down the track, 2wd are a little faster if you get traction, the nice thing about AWD is you always have traction. Some of the fastest SS's on the forum are AWD.

So ts up to you what s better for what you need

Well I live in Louisiana so we dont have snow and I have another truck for the mud. I am hoping to build a quick truck but mid to low 13s at best. Would I need AWD for that?

2wd ftw brother!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

real SS's are AWD :jester:

.. that comment will get under the skin of a few 2wd'ers :P

Depends on your goals and needs really.. Just use the search button and weigh the pro's and con's of each.

Good luck :chevy:

Personally I like the AWD but the 2WDs are fine too. Either one run better at the track with a wheel swap and with the 2WD you only have to swap the rear wheels. As for mid-low 13's I'd think any of the 6.0 chevys with full bolt ons and a cam would get you there.

My formula for that would be...

ARH 1 7/8" headers with true 3" duals

TSP 228R cam

AEM Bruteforce CAI

Custom tune (not mail order)

Circle D 3k-3400 stall (depending on your towing needs)

Vette Servo and HD-2 shiftkit

OR...a 100 shot on the stock motor...HAHAHA!

Can't go wrong either way. I've only had snow once since i've had mine..5 years...was pleased with how it did!! My first awd ...handles great too! I've always loved doing burnouts.....but awd saves me on tires!!
