Kody1K
Ok so i am on my 3rd 4l60E and i hate it. so i am loseing the awd and doing a T56 swap. my buddy did one in his 96 and loves it so i will keep u all posted on the swap and add pick as i go
chpspecial
just don't skimp out on the clutch. after the T56 swap, it seems that very few clutches can handle the weight of the truck, and if you are making enough power to keep on constantly hurting the 4l60, that will be your new weak point. Fireman31
The T-56 has been swapped in before and didn't last long, for the reason Reynaldo stated. Get ahold of John Kelley(kelleyperformance), he did a T-56 swap a couple years ago and went through 3-4 clutches if I recall....he eventually went back to a built 4L70E..... sierra ss
A 96 C/K is a lot different than a 03 AWD SSS. Id personally do a 80E swap but a manual SS would be sweet. Keep us posted and good luck.
Blackhawk355
I've yet to go through a clutch with my setup. I'm the friend with the T56 setup, I'll be going to a twin or triple disc setup when this clutch goes out. Truck is a 91. zippy
The clutch problem is not only a quality of clutch issue, but a gearing issue. If you want a clutch to hold up in the SSS truck you'll need more gear than the 4.10 that you have in it. John kept his 3.73 which is where the problem area was. The same reason every truck guy that has a 6 speed uses alot of gear is because of the gearing in the trans. Even the Dodge SRT10 had a 4.56 gear factory due to this problem. ImpostorSS is another great example. He has many, many track passes and street runs at over 500RWHP and his clutch is fine. He also has a 4.56 gear. Put a gear in it with that Textralia clutch and you'll be fine.
