Hankg42
GM will invest up to a billion dollars to update its pickup trucks... http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Inves...its-future.aspx
SSplaytoy
Hopefully they use it wisely to build trucks that don't have as many ongoing problems!
turboed ss
i heard that Chevy quit the production of the duramax diesel and have no intentions of having a diesel motor available anymore...
diggerdan11
Hey i was about to post this story, look like you beat me to it. I wonder what this means for us Maybe a new SS (prob not) Maybe they will make the 4.6 Duramax in the 1500 and suburbans like they talked about, BTW no way will GM drop the Duramax, they will have to have a Diesel truck in order to compete with Furd and Dawdge. Most people who need a rig for pulling are going to buy a Diesel. No Gas engine can match he HP and Torque and Fuel Mileage of a Diesel
turboed ss
i heard that they have to get out of the diesel market b/c they cant afford the development and they are going to focus on there family car stuff...
SSplaytoy
The Duramax isn't going anywhere. GM is just modding it to meet stricter EPA restrictions. However, there have been speculations of GM working on their diesels without the help of Isuzu. If GM couldn't compete in diesel truck market, they would loose more profits IMO, even if they focused on their family cars.
JSTAL
i heard that Chevy quit the production of the duramax diesel and have no intentions of having a diesel motor available anymore... isuzu makes the duramax and no thats is not true. They were going to make a 4.5 liter D max and that was put on hold. Chevy will still have a 6.6 Diesel
smallblock500
chevy needs to drop the duracrap and invest in cummins motors for their trucks. A chevy 3500 with a 6.7L cummins and an allison transmission would pull the planet off of its axis and live for ever.

Fireman31
Unless it is a custom conversion, you'll probably never see Cummins in a Chevy pickup. Dodge is tied to Cummins and Ford to Navistar/International, would be nice to see GM and Detroit Diesel work something up.
desertss
we have a 06 4dr 4wd 2500 duramax and it is great. i have driven powder strokes and the cummins, with the banks upgrade no cummins can even stay close in pulling a 13k lb boat up the grade to lake tahoe.
