Tinted My Tail Lights

I was very reluctant to do this but im pretty happy about how it turned out, definitly different.

Nice touch!! I prefer the blue on a blue truck more than black... they appear to be just a tad dull compared to the paint, have you cleared, sanded and buffed them yet??

when i brought them back home no light showed through so these pics are after i sanded them and used rubbing compound, what should i use next to make them slick again?

if thats for cops lol yea i know, but its not really my DD unless it rains or i cant ride my bike, and when i do take it out its generally dusk or night so im hopin that wont be a problem, if it is a may slap a lightbar on it.

haha oh you will be fine then, i got a set of stock lights for when i get pulled over and get another warning.

haha i may sand the black tint off my stockers and keep em in the truck, cops around here don't usually care if u can fix ur problem on the spot though, but we'll see how it goes

here they just give warnings, then you have a week to fix and show them the problem fixed.

looks sharp. id like to do some stock ones just to have a different set. so it it just arrival blue thinned out/?

it was about 2:1 clear to base for the first two coats then added another part of base, i had to wet sand and buff to get the light to come through once i got home and put em on, no biggie.

I have seriously been considering this too. I was planning on putting woman's nylons over the light and then painting them arrival blue on a very low pressure. I figure the mix of red and blue would keep the Troopers happy in NY. But I did get stopped for a clear license plate cover before??

idk how that method would work, the first two coats the red and blue mixed and it just looked like a dark red with a blue tint to the reverse lights, then adding more base and id say 5 more coats got it to the final product, but your method might work, if i were to go back and do it over id get clear lensed tails even though they are but ugly with all the chrome crap inside em, but if ur tinting them they shouldnt look too bad. i am getting a lightbar to keep the 5-0 off my tail.

 

a GOOD quality light bar from recon, im not havin hot spots on my truck, bugs the $h!t outta me
