thrift23 Posted September 15, 2011 Report Share Posted September 15, 2011 i just bought an 03 SSS. im looking to do a few mods and want to get better mpgs. im thinking tune, volant cai, corsa sport exhaust with no cats, and efans. i'm not too sure how to go about getting the efans and harness etc. i would like to go with gm fans and make it like factory. any info on the fans and other mods would be appreciated. f1ss Posted September 15, 2011 Report Share Posted September 15, 2011 (edited) I wouldnt expect any gains in mpg's, these trucks are thirsty. Once you add those mods your going to want to go faster. You will a gain a tiny amount, but its barely recognizable and the gas pump will still cost you a pretty penny. edit - As far as e-fans go with HPM on here, their hands down better than any other e-fan out their. Badazzchevy327 Posted September 16, 2011 Report Share Posted September 16, 2011 e-fan are never a bad thing to do. my truck bone stock got 14ish mpg. i did centerline 20's and my mpg jumped to almost 16. did long tube headers with a corsa sport and no cats. with a intake and a blackbear tune and my mpg went to 16.5 to almost 17. did a 80e swap with a 4,000 stall, and a 228/230 cam and I'm getting low 15's to high 14's. i can almost bet that if i had a 65e still it would do way better. this is all on my 2wd. i drive 35 miles a day for work through town. not a bunch of stop and go but not 55 constant cruising either. Cramer Posted September 16, 2011 Report Share Posted September 16, 2011 I am cammed with full bolt ons efans and then some with a built trans etc. I have a rich tune in it right now and I am still getting an avg of 19 hwy and 14.3 city. With an avg combined at around 16.2. I dont drive like a grandpa either. The efans were the big mpg increase upgrade. 8hnpSS Posted September 16, 2011 Report Share Posted September 16, 2011 since ive had my magnacharger my mpg dropped like crazy LOL. according to the DIC i average 11.6 mpg . my truck is not my daily driver when i first got my truck i put a volant cia, wheatley tune and a corsa sport. it was definitely fun and it woke up the truck alot. i used to see around 14-15 mpg. and if your looking for e-fans contact steve (mr.p) i just installed the torrent kit last week and its been great. built quality is awesome and they are very simple to install with his instructions. Plugging the fan harness into the control box and you messed that up too.All joking aside the fan kits are really nice.
