Good times. I would venture to guess, that a stock STS kit @5-6 psi is probably OK for everyday driver. But adding more boost, really drives up the IAT's, and is why the intercooler is needed. What's STSs' stance on intercooling beyond the stock systems boost? Have they tested IAT's at 15psi?

Correct, anything under 6psi should be fine in decent conditions. But just like using a supercharger BEFORE there were inter/after coolers you need to restrain yourself if you have been sitting in traffic for a long time (heat soak) or it's 110deg out.

 

As far as i know STS has not done much testing on 15+psi systems besides may Rick's personal Camaro. I talked with Rick and he agreed that after 10psi or so that an intercooler would indeed become effective and that anything under 7psi or so would be kinda worthless.
