Smoak352
Hi, A few days ago I noticed when braking, below 5mph the brake pedal vibrates and makes a terrible noise. Any braking over about 5mph is fine. Also, my ABS light is on. My code reader said front driver side speed sensor. I replaced this and reset the computer and the issue is still here. Any suggestions? harriss
This problem is the sensor has been lifted to far away from the gear in the hub. This is caused by corrosion. Bend the backing plate out of the way and sand or file a small amout of material away. Dont let shit get down into bearing....plug hole. But first get multimeter out an test the inital volts produced by spinning the hub. This reading will be low. A good reading is above 450 mV or .45 V AC. Keep removing material until you get above 450. you could also check the other hub and try to match its voltage. put some grease behind the plate to prevent more corrosion. hope this helps. http://forums.trailv...ead.php?t=94580 here is some more reading http://www.justanswer.com/chevy/1r2ff-test-left-front-wheel-speed-sensor.html Edited May 24, 2012 by harriss (see edit history)
harriss
Oh yea, pull the ABS fuse until you get it fixed. It can be very dangerous driving like that.
