Doughty08
My a/c blows cold only while driving or above 1500rpm. Wondering if anyone has the same issue and it just needs to be recharged or if my compressor is going out. I'm in ga and the temps are up there but does it in the fall as well when it was cooler outside. Thanks for any input
Sneakystiffler21
I'm having the exact same issue, it's super cold when driving, but when you start it up or stop at a light, it blows hot air. I hope it just needs a recharge.
Blown 346
Sounds like a recharge or overcharge. You will have the same symptoms with either.
Sneakystiffler21
What kind of refrigerant does the SS use?
Blown 346
R 134A. You have to make sure you dont overcharge the system. If you do, you can damage the ac compnents like the compressor etc.

Sneakystiffler21
Don't burn me too bad for asking but would something like this be ok? http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_EZ-Chill-R-134a-Refrigerant-Plus-Oil-with-Leak-Sealer-%2818-oz-%29-Interdynamics_7010015-P_N3571B_T|GRP2004A_____ What pressure does it need to be to? kissfans03ss
I woulx go to a reputable shop that way your system could be looked over and pressure tested. Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk
Blown 346
I agree with above. any freon you buy at the parts store is more cons than pros. You dont know how much freon you have in your system, and how much you need other than a alittle flimsy guage. Honestly any parts store will tell you what you want to hear to make the dollar. Go get the system checked professionally so its not damaged.
desrtrat
one of the biggest issues is lack of air flow across the condenser at idle/low speed.. make sure your condenser fins are clean of dirt, leaves, dead bugs, or what ever. the best fix is E-fans. they will pull more cfm than a clutch fan at low rpm/speed. having your system checked by a PRO is still good advice.. good luck
90zxdriver
I had a similar problem, ended up being the low pressure switch. It was a cheap part from GM if I remember correctly.
KY_SS
I am having the same issue. Pressure is good. I have also been told that the gauges you can buy may read good but sometimes they still need to be blown down and recharged. Hopefully it's something simple.
