you also may want to wait a little bit for the haswell chips to come out if you can hold off a month or 2. but that might make it go out of your price range. not sure how much those chips will raise cost.

I have heard the new chips extend battery life. Dell is offering the new gen 4 chips now, but the laptop I am looking at does not offer it. I have read that the newer gen chips should lower prices of the 3rd gen hard drives, but I haven't seen the drop yet. Seems they alway have this huge sale or special discounts, but in the end they are usually around the same price range. Like buying jewelry, they are always "on sAle". Lol

im a pc hardware junkie. just my take but id stay away from dell/hp etc, use cheap parts. I have an ASUS for my laptop. they are a great motherboard manufacturer so i trust the stuff they put in there. ID recommend looking at newegg for one. i get all all my parts from them when i build pcs

Thanks for the info. I had been warned to stay away from HP and compaq for sure from a local computer shop. Dell, Lenovo, and Asus are my 3 faves. My last Inventor desktop was an Asus and I just decommissioned it after 8+ years of service. Not bad for a 3d cad machine! They bought me a new 8K+ Dell desktop that is a BA though! It's a monster and the quietest computer I have ever heard run

My HP laptop with Dre beat audio has been really good to me. No issues here...although if I had free money I didnt already have planned for one of my rides I would get a Mac. But honestly for $700 I can't beat the HP I have its awesome for what I need it to do and that isn't much besides managing my music and pictures plus paying bills etc.
