canadianVRss
Has anyone used them? I was looking at them the other day and they looked alright, but looking alright and performing are two totally different things. How do they compare to K&N, AMSoil and mobile 1? I couldn't seem to find the longer corvette version like the other brands have (K&N 2006 and mobile 1 M206). I looked up the part numbers for the vette filter and the silverado filter and they were indeed different part numbers, but the same size. The only noticeable difference was the bypass valve I seen in the bottom of the corvette filter. I'm talking about the synthetic oil filters btw. The purple looking ones with the textured grip. Downeast Johnny
I have not used these filters but your post got me curious. Googled them and came up with this. http://www.amazon.com/Purolator-PL14459-PureONE-Filter-Pack/product-reviews/B000E8T80Q There are a few throw away reviews from the type of idiot Amazon has plenty of but there are some pretty legit sounding reviews there too. Here's my google if you want to check out more. https://www.google.com/search?q=Purolator+oil+filter+%2F+review&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a
JC03SS
I used the pure one for years before I went to amsoil. Seemed to be fine to me.
1BAD2K
I've never used purolator, I'm not sure who its made by, but I just go with the trusty k&n. A few extra bucks is cheap insurance imo.
canadianVRss
This is the one I'm talking about. The synthetic filter. http://www.trucktestdigest.com/?p=307 for us guys running AMSoil, royal purple, mobile 1 or any other expensive synthetic oil this filter might be something to consider. I might try one out next oil change...... If I can find the long vette version.
Downeast Johnny
Hadn't seen that one. Looks good on paper. Let us know if you find the longer one.
canadianVRss
yuppers, i found it. i guess the longer version is for the 99-02 6.0s. but apparently our 6.0s get the shorter ones . anyway i bought the longer one for obvious reasons. the longer version and the shorter version (truck versions) don't have bypass valves, but the short corvette version did. i wish they made a long version with the bypass valve. part number is PSL25288 for the long version. http://s1223.photobucket.com/user/Pwilly7/media/BDBB781C-9E13-42A9-9CCF-1D5422C0C9E5-2598-00000175FF4DD17D_zpseed652e2.jpg.html?sort=3&o=2#/user/Pwilly7/media/BDBB781C-9E13-42A9-9CCF-1D5422C0C9E5-2598-00000175FF4DD17D_zpseed652e2.jpg.html?sort=3&o=2&_suid=137862356482608531288168399966 http://s1223.photobucket.com/user/Pwilly7/media/BDBB781C-9E13-42A9-9CCF-1D5422C0C9E5-2598-00000175FF4DD17D_zpseed652e2.jpg.html?sort=3&o=2#/user/Pwilly7/media/32045F6C-54BE-4930-B466-B18237BACA59-2598-000001771B969049_zps070a1fba.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0&_suid=137862356482608531288168399966 in this pic you can see the screen mesh that supports the media. http://s1223.photobucket.com/user/Pwilly7/media/BDBB781C-9E13-42A9-9CCF-1D5422C0C9E5-2598-00000175FF4DD17D_zpseed652e2.jpg.html?sort=3&o=2#/user/Pwilly7/media/1A656F73-EBC4-4D32-96B6-E40145E9AA70-2598-00000176F4824C06_zps16e5f2c5.jpg.html?sort=3&o=1&_suid=137862356482608531288168399966 all in all this looks like a damn good fully synthetic filter for the price, cheaper than AMSoil, K&N and Mobil1 here in Canada, has a anti drainback valve. i just wish it had a bypass in the long version but for $12, im not going to complain. Aldofashow
Go on YouTube lots of guys cutting up oil filters and checking them out might help your choice
Akslowroller
Well now I'm curious. Is the k&N that I've been using not the best option? I run mobil 1 synthetic should I run a different filter? And what is the advantage of a larger filter. Longer life out of the oil?
AKSSS
I don't think any name brand filters are bad. I only use k&n and Mobil filters myself. I think you cause more problems from just trying roger more life out of your oil than worrying about the brand of your filter.
canadianVRss
Nope nothing wrong with K&N or Mobil1. I've run them for most of my trucks life. But at $16 a piece for either, a $12 filter that's just as good seems kinda nice. I know it's 4 bucks, but still. Having the longer filter extends change intervals, and since AMSoil is good for 20 000miles a oil change is really limited by the filter. Most filters aren't good for that kind of mileage. But purilator claims 10000 miles with their synthetic filter.
JC03SS
I'm personally staying with my Amsoil filter. It's only 10$ and change. It's easier to just get it along with my oil. That's just my opion.
Akslowroller
I still change my oil every 3k and I guess I'm lucky I get my k&n from napa for 12$.
AKSSS
I still change my oil every 3k and I guess I'm lucky I get my k&n from napa for 12$. With as much idling that our trucks do you here in Ak. I think it is wise to change the oil every 3-3500 miles. I always do. On all our trucks. 90zxdriver
I run Mobile1 gold cap with a Mobile1 Corvette filter. I buy them whenever they have a sale at whatever auto part store. It usually always seems to be Auto Zone though. It is usually a 5 qt jug of oil and a free filter for $30 plus an addition 6 qt for these trucks. Somewhere around $40-$45 for a oil change. I change it whenever the DIC says to (approx 5k miles or so). I'll be changing the oil tomorrow come to think of it.
