Porno Joe
So after 7 years my stock ac delco is finally getting weak. Doesnt help my truck sits for weeks on end sometimes months without starting. So which battery is everyone having the best luck with? I search but a lot of the threads were several years old. Right now I'm between putting a stock delco back in it, or an optima yellow top. I know people have mixed feelings about optimas, but i have two red tops still going strong after 6 years. Porno Joe
I have a battery tender, two actually. but having 7 different vehicles which sits means i usually rotate the tenders around.

jddmj
I rock a yellow top, but I also have a aftermarket stereo. I am with these guys, the battery tender is the way to go.

Mrrat1SS
GM has good pricing on 5 year batteries, under $80. I bought a couple 2 years ago for my rides that sit.
NipRing
This is what i use on my 78 T/A that sits in the garage for almost a year at a time. Sits a year, i flip the blade down and turn the key, starts right up. Around $20 at O'Riellys

Brentd
My stock ac delco started going out on me about two months ago and I talked to my tuner about it. He gets really good deals on commercial grade batteries from the parts store he gets all his supplies from. They sell them to him for 35 $ after they have sat on the shelf for more than 18 months. I got a duralast proffesional series battery from him. It had been sitting for 20 months. They dont put them in the battery section, they keep them in the back. I put it in the truck and it fired off instantly. Really happy with it. Sometimes I go two or three weeks without driving the truck and without a tender and it fires up perfectly. Check into them at the parts store, supposed to last a long time. The one I got had 650cca, a little less than the stocker, 850 amps@32°, but the reserve capacity was 95, which was significantly higher than the stocker. Not saying its the best by any means but one hell of a deal on a commercial grade battery
kissfans03ss
I really like the "Megatron" battery make by Interstate you could let the battery sit and it would never give you a problem and it always seems to outlast the listed expedition date. Blown 346
After having several Optima's fail on me back to back with each battery only lasting a few months. I havent had any bad luck with my Farm and Fleet Platinum battery. That is with the -50 weather we are having here. My truck always starts just like it was summer, plus it saved me the money from what the Optimas cost. In all Honesty, this is all on opinion. If you get any good battery, without spending the money on buying a name, they should all work the same as long as you get what your truck requires for CCA. 90zxdriver
I recently had to replace my 10 year old battery. I spent countless hours online reading about batteries only to leave myself more confused than when I started and learning more about car batteries than I really wanted to know. The one thing that seemed to come across on everything I read was to avoid Exide batteries and the ones made by Johnson Control are good. So, I decided on a Johnson Control battery. A lot of people recommended the Everstart Maxx (made by Johnson Controls) from Walmart, to include Consumer Reports. I don't normally like to give my money to Walmart but it was midnight, I had a battery that wouldn't start the truck and Walmart was open. Damn convenience of a 24hr store. $100 for a battery and my warranty paid $65 so it only cost me $35 out of pocket. The first thing I did when I got home was to throw the battery on the charger and give it a nice slow trickle charge. I'm not really expecting 10 years out of this battery but it was cheap enough. One thing that really surprised me were the horrible reviews the Optima batteries are getting. Apparently the company has been sold and they now make the batteries in Mexico. They were previously made in the US (Colorado I think) and were a great battery then. It seems now they are making an inferior product and trying to ride on the Optima name from years ago. 1skss
I ran a yellow top optima and took a dump after only 6months. After that I went with a red top optima and haven't had any problems ever since ... 3.5 years and still running strong right now.
