Aluminum driveshafts

So I got my Silverado SS and I got to look at the under side of the truck. I noticed that my SS has a steel driveshaft on it. I was wondering, did all the Silverado SS pickup trucks come with steel driveshafts or did some have aluminum driveshafts put on them?

It's the 2 pc steel shafts for the 06 RWD. I've read some people prefer the 2 PC setup over the aluminum for drag racing, and they have it high speed balanced.

Anyone have more info on which drive shaft is best for a drag racing setup

This all depends on power levels. I have a aluminum shaft in my race car and have never had an issue. Most use them for the weight advantage. Now a days you can get a very strong aluminum DS that will take as much abuse as a steel one.

Is there a way to get an aluminum driveshaft to put on the 2006 RWD Silverado SS pickup truck? I got an aluminum driveshaft off an older 1990s 2wd Chevy pickup truck and I was thinking of doing a little measuring. Not sure though if this one I got is long enough though.

The problem with a 1 piece aluminum drive shaft on a 2wd ecsb truck is the length of it. Once driveshaft gets to a certain length if it's not balanced right at high speeds it more likely to come apart on you. It's happened to several of the guys on pt.net with the one piece driveshafts on the ccsb trucks once they took their speed limit off their trucks.

Makes 2 piece to 1 piece conversion drive shafts but if you look at the length limit it's 86" and although I've never gotten under my truck to measure I'm pretty sure we pretty close to that limit.
