On this topic... I have a 2004 with the CD/AM/FM/TAPE DECK, and want to replace it with a OEM CD/AM/FM/SAT head unit because who listens to tapes and I love XM. If I buy a new old stock or rebuilt unit is all I have to do is go to the Chevy Dealer and they can unlock it to my VIN?

If you buy an unlocked radio you won't need to have it programmed. If it was out of another vehicle then vin will be programmed and that's when you need to have unlocked. Also you will need to add an XM antenna if you don't have one. It's funny how tape decks are like dinosaurs now.... CDs are heading that way. Most new vehicles don't even come with CD players anymore which kinda sucks.
