vtecths
Well I tested the towing capability for the first time this past weekend moving my car from a buddys house to my new home. I was impressed with the 6.0L power and capability. The truck did not even flinch! I was using a U-Haul auto hauler which is a pretty heavy trailer and does not distribute weight evenly in my opinion therefore most of the weight of the car sat far forward making the suspension of the truck carry most of the load. My estimated weight from trailer and car is about 4000lbs give or take. I had a little bit of suspension sag but it was about an inch from the bumpstops in the rear. I would really like to see how it would do with a better trailer and a longer trip. I really could not gauge gas mileage in such a short trip of about 20 miles. Overall impression That is all! ChevySSandChevy8.1
The SS does have great towing ability, thats what I love about it, its a sport truck that can actually be used everyday. The VHO is basically the same minus a few things such as awd. They are great for towing but if you tow often duramax is the best bet.
IdriveGTP
An empty U-Haul Auto Transport is 961 pounds (I happen to be a dealer), and no, they don't allow the mass of the car to be on the axles, instead they put it up front on the towing vehicle.
