  1. Dave, I gotta say very nice truck. the cover shoot is badass! Have you ever figured what the truck has into it? I mean the finished product, not the money you spent and rebuilt from. I mean as it sits. I can tell you mine is scary. I have it insured for 80 grand, yet i drive it daily. i just rolled 104,000 miles on my way home from work today. gotta love when you can feel that power daily, i guess my fav thing about my truck is knowin how i put it together, how it was built in my head and i made the project come together and seeing it in print was just amazing. i'd say all in all i bought 40 copies of my mag, and i only have 3 left. I too did the "in the news" piece that you are showing us. its a piece that may never happen again. but i will tell you, the glory wears off quik, in 28 short days, another issue is on the news stands, and your truck is old news... it sucks but what can you do? enjoy it for your 4 weeks of glory, its a well deserved collaberation of manufactures sponsors and hard work by some talented mechanics. I think the best feelin i have of mine is when people ask me who built it... I DID!! that right there is the ultimate reward seeing their eyes open and their mouths drop... BTW, who did you use for audio? I havent been on here in forever and have been wondering. do you have pics?

    :cheers::cheers:

    again nice work!!

    Chris - Thanks, I dont know what I have into the truck, nor do I really care, its not like I would ever get my money back out of this... no one does, you should know that - you tried selling your truck recently.

    104k miles? Wow, you drive ALOT! I dont drive mine daily, I have a great DD, but I do plan on driving it more on weekends and such, once the tune is finished (this friday). Plus it is winter time, and I will only drive it on sunny days.

    Im not sure if you know but I did most of the build in my shop, the entire engine swap, SC install, and all of the engine bay upgrades at my shop with the help of a friend, so I too can say, I built this. I installed the caltracs, I pulled the trans and installed the new driveline, I ran new trans lines, and the fuel system was entirely done by me too... I didnt build the surge tank, but other than that all of the old lines were pulled, new lines run, reg installed, meth system I did...basically most of the build I did at my shop, other than paint, and brakes - which anyone could do, but wilwood wanted to do them for the mag.

    I have a complete build thread on PT.net, which Im sure most people have seen - you can see a lot of build pics there.

    Yea I agree, the glory is pretty much over, and the magazine hasnt even come out yet... but my goal has been met, so Im happy.

    As for audio, I pulled my entire system and sold most of it off... I plan on doing a new setup this winter (jan-mar) but I can tell you this, im going with a pair of JL Audio 13.5" TW5's under the rear seat in a custom enclosure that attached to a new center console that goes all the way up to the dash... in the center console I will have the amps partially on display in some custom configuration. I already have the subs, so im set there.

    It will be clean and sleek to match the trucks appearance - last thing I want is some obnoxious system with 100 subs everywhere, that's not my thing.

    I did use a lot of the stuff I bought from you, thanks. I doubt I will have any TV's although I heard you have 5.1 in your truck, that must sound killer... I dont I will go that extreme!

    Plus I want to start on a new project very soon... more on that later.

  2. Congratulations Dave, it is very exciting to see your project get the recognition it deserves.

    Mr. P. :)

    Thanks for the kind words. And with all humility I could not have done this without the help of so many of you on this site, I know I spent a few hours on the phone with you Steve, picking your brain!

    Thanks to everyone who helped in this project! I know it may sound silly, but it's been a lifelong dream to have a cover vehicle on a magazine!

    :cheers:

  3. I have a nikon 70-300VR lens, I have literally used this less than 5 times... it has just sat in my room, boxed up - lens comes with original box and all paperwork, plus a pro UV filter ($60 filter).

    This is a great lens - I took this shot from 250 yards away

    I am asking $475 shipped... (I have this listed on craigslist for $460 but I added $15 bucks for shipping)

    This lens just sits so I figured someone could get some use out of it... it is a kick ass lens!

    This has the VR (vibration reduction) feature which dramatically reduces vibration.

  4. Im so glad you ditched the 370 plan and stepped up to the big boy club!! Awesome and welcome lol...

    Thing should be a beast, like I said on the phone, do it right the first time, even if it takes a year or more... dont half ass it!

    :thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

    do I see a future HP cover truck in the works?? Time will tell... :cheers:

    congrats bro

  5. These have just been recently polished to new condition... these are not the cheap ebay BS pedals, these are solid billet pedals in a 3D flame design.

    This picture doesnt showcase the finish...

    I paid $140 brand new, they've been sitting for awhile, just had them polished...

    $70 bucks shipped - paypal accepted.

  6. I have a good friend who is a fire captain in norcal, he said his ambulances get pulled over occasionally when they are on a code 3 call - lights and sirens, because they were driving to fast... having a badge does not make you above the law, but occasionally there are cops who think so - and this is what happens.

    He should be tried to the fullest extent of the law and then some.

  7. lol you so cal people dont know what its like to drive on ice. especially if they use unfozen water to simulate lol :jest:

    but I guess we're smarter because we dont live in areas where we have to worry about that, or tornado's or dust storms, etc...

    sure we have earthquakes, once every ten years or so, big deal lol at least I dont have to worry about driving on ice while a tornado comes and picks me up and drops me on a wicked witch in a land of little people lol

    :jester:

  8. dave you may want to leave the meth injection where it is , too close to the tb and it may pool up causing rich spikes. it needs a bit of distance to atomize a bit.

    you have a date for the final tune? have you taken it out to village roasters for a sunday cruise yet?

    Yea chase? Thanks, last thing i really wanted to do was re-route it, it routes ultra clean now, super stealth, you dont even know im running it as I am spraying from the bottom and running the line behind stuff. I will leave it, but I am still doing a new CAI tube, something seamless... I may go down to Magnaflow and have them bend me 1 piece of 4" stainless, and then goto - AmeriChrome PVD coating, the same company that PC'd my blower, so they match exactly - wtf who goes through all of this for a stupid CAI tube?? :wtf:

    The date for the final tune will be once the CAI kit is finished, but most likely next week.

    Village roasters got shut down about 5 weeks ago, completely. Cops posted up at each entrance and didnt let any custom cars in, so they have moved it out in the middle of the valley somewhere, and I dont know where. I will be taking it to the Motors4toys event that rob and I went to a few years ago, it is Dec 6th, and they are expecting a couple thousand cars - all customs, open to anyone... Im gonna post a meet up about it later.

  9. plain sickness bro!!!!! :cheers::thumbs:

    i was expecting more in the 1000hp range :D ,is that on a conservative tune?

    Honestly Ivan, I have no real solid idea of how much it will make at the wheels, remember I am going through a 4l80 too. At 15 PSI and meth I should make some decent power, but there is nothing worse than speculating HP imho... once I have numbers, good, bad, or otherwise i will post the results!

    Wow dave truck has come along ways. I remember when you first said you wanted to two tone it and everybody said dont do it. i think that topped your truck off. I was reading TRUCKIN this month and they said next month they will have a 1000hp DD in the mag were they talking about yours?

    I DO remember that... people said not to do it, but the pictures really dont do it justice - the silver is very metallic with a blue pearl mid-coat clear, with a clear over that. The graphic separation line is actually real silver leaf which comes in 4"x4" squares which had to be applied one at a time around the entire truck - i think he put on over 120 sheets of silver leaf on the truck.

    Yes I think they were refering to my truck?? thats some exaggerated numbers tho lol

    i dont know if its my computer res or what but it kind of looks like it has a matte finish near the color divide line.

    dave congrats on getting your truck together. now will you enjoy driving it around , that thing deserves to put smiles on people's faces .

    No there is no matte finish, it is glossy, maybe your screen or the pic?

    I will enjoy it once it is fully tuned... I had a basic tune on it just to get some miles on it and seat the rings, the new motor maybe has 200 miles on her, so we are close. I took off my CAI tube as the finish doesnt look all that great, I am having a new 1 peice 4" mandrel bent piece of aluminum bent and then I will chrome it or powder coat it to match the blower. I am also rerouting my meth injection to be a little more efficient, right now it is too far away from the TB, and I want to put it just in front of it.

    I still have a couple of projects left - a couple of suspension upgrades, and a complete system.

  10. I promised to post some finished pics of the truck, these were taken last month for the upcoming article...

    If you pick up this months issue, my brake install from Wilwood is featured... next month it will be the cover truck for the annual HP edition of Truckin'... and these are a couple of pics from that shoot.
