  1. I had one of those Superchips programmers installed in my truck. Every time the tune was installed, it was about 150-200 miles before the tune was fully functional. The shifts were softer than stock until the PCM learned the new settings. Then the shift was annoying as hell. Always a harsh clunk during gear changes at low speeds. The high speed shifts were great, just couldn't stand the low speed shifts in stop and go traffic. The other bad part about the tune was that only about one in every 3-4 fillups would run without pinging. So, I'm saving my pennies for a custom tune. My warranty is up in 3000 miles, so I'll feel more comfortable moding the truck.

See that is the thing, I have full warranty so I dont want to mess with things too much because hey for a few less horse and full warranty on the engine and tranny why not? I am at 32K miles and my warranty lasts 4 years or 76K miles so I think ill keep it like that for a while unless there is a way around it where they wont see.

  2. I had the earlier superchips tune in the 04 sss and ordered a new programmer which came in a few days ago. I installed it and my tranny was not shifting hard and would not go from 1st to 2nd. I called superchips and he said that he changed the tune because the old tune was taking out trannys. the new tune shifts better while driving and doesnt shift as well under full throttle. He told me to install 2-4 servos. If you have them or know where to get them let me know and also send me a link on installation if you could. thanks!

  3. When you say "heavily modded," what mods are you talking about? And I too do all of my tuning.

Well I have a Mitsubishi Eclipse turbo. It is a convert and they didnt make the convert in a AWD so I put in AWD out of another hard top car. I have a fully built motor, stage 4 cams, e-85, 33 psi boost, and stock they are about 210 to the crank and I am pushing mid 450HP to the wheels.

  4. If your not running a wideband i suggst you get one. You need to be able to tell if your running to rich or lean both no good for your motor. Thats where a custom tune helps out. You can let the tuner know what the AFR is at WOT and they can help adjust the tune properly. My .02

I have a heavily modded car that I self tune on my lap top but was just double checking what you guys run for a good but safe WOT 02 on the wideband? Also how are these trucks for temp and humidity change. If you tune to X 02 will it be good with that tune from below zero to 100 degrees?

  5. No I don't think its bad to run it, but I wouldn't run it for an extended period of time as the tuning is not calibrated for a Radix most likely. You don't need dyno time for a custom tune, but it will help fine tune it a bit. There are many guys out there who have blowers and are running on a mail order tune. A dyno tune would be best but a mail order can be just as good. There are several good tuners out there who can safely tune your truck like Charlie Wheatley, Zippy, or

    .justin.(BlackBearPerformance). :chevy:

Well the superchips did come from magnacharger with a tune specifically called "magnacharger" custom tune right on the programmer from the place itself. They must of sent it with the tune on it made directly from them.

  6. Thats nice of them to get you a new programmer, but no offense, handhelds are junk. You need to get rid of that and get a custom tune, trust me you will feel a big difference from how the truck was when you bought it. The Superchips they bought you isn't calibrated for the Radix, it's calibrated for a stock truck with minor bolt-ons, that's why it feels weird. Again, time for a custom tune to release your trucks true potential. :chevy:

Ill read a bit here but if you want to answer that would help. My question is is it bad to run the superchips programmer? Also can I get a custom tune that you are talking about with no dyno time or the use of a wideband or anything like that? Also with just letting you know what my mods are can you get me a tune based off of that with 100% safe ranges without wrecking or damaging the engine at all? This is my DD and I have a car that is running 50% of the time to be on the HP edge. Thanks for all the help.

  7. I bought a 2004 sss with a magnacharger, headers, corsa exhaust, transgo shift kit, and a program with the superchips that came with the magna kit. I bought it from a dealer that originally installed all of the aftermarket parts on. They warranty everything since they installed it all. I bought it and the guy that traded it to the same dealer that he originally bought it did not include the programmer with the trade in. The check engine light came on so I brought it in. It ended up being some wierd electrical issue with the 02 sensors heating up too fast so they went and bought a new superchips programmer for me. They took their tech2000 and set the entire truck to stock and then took and installed the new tune. It used to shift really hard in 1st and not as hard but still harder in all of the other gears as well but now it seems to shift like stock or so. What could of happened?

  8. Ok so a stock pulley is a 3.2 on our setup. What size pulley can you go down to with pump gas or bottom end staying stock? I dont want to have to go with several diffferent pulleys and want to get one and be done for a while. Does anyone know of a AWD dyno in Minnesota that will fit our trucks? If not what other option do I have for tuning in 2WD?

  9. I have a 04 SSS. It has corsa exhaust, shorty headers, magnacharger with intercooler, cold air intake, built transgo trany, and tune. I am almost 100% sure that it is just a stock pulley with the stock setup that you get from magna. I was wondering what it all takes to up power with a smaller pulley. I was thinking that it was just a pulley and a new tune but wanted to check and make sure.

  10. I was driving and I went to cross a highway. The power steering felt really stiff and then it all came at me. Display said alternator not charging, engine hot, engine overheated, service break booster, and the check engine light came on all in the mater of seconds so I pulled over right away. Good thing for AAA as I got a free tow home.

Do you think that I wrecked anything? Also what belt do I get? I have a Magnus SC. Any part numbers from like napa or checker? Thanks for the help!

  11. I ordered a 100% perfect in shape and condition tailgate off of ebay a few weeks ago for a buddy of mine off of ebay. The shipping was like $100 and I paid the extra $5 for the insurance. The tailgate was shipped very late so I started a calim through paypal on it. He stated that he had no excuses and it was late but gave me a tracking number and I received it a few days later after that. Well with the claim still open I seen the UPS man pulling into my driveway so I went out there. The guy takes it out of the truck and kind of just plops it on the ground. I get ready to sign for it and he says that "Nope you are all set." Right there I knew that something was not right. The guy that I bought it from did not put insurance on the package since I didnt have to sign for it. I open it up and it was dented in 2 of the corners and one really nice dent on the side where the cable was under it in the packaging process. He did a really bad job packaging it and now I am stuck with a $500 peice of junk. I esclated the dispute into a claim and have not heard back from the paypal team and that was before C-mas. Any help on what I should do? Also what should I do if paypal does not do anything for this one? Thanks in advance.
