  1. Just wondering what kind of exhaust system would be the best for performance and not too much noise. Looking for something that sounds really good. I was kind of looking at Borla cat backs. Is that a recommended system?

Finally got the Billy Boat (B&B) exhaust system, thanks to this web site. This was the sound I was looking for. Not too loud and not too quiet! Thanks everyone! I'll send pictures soon. The picture you see now is without the dual back exhaust.

  2. They couldn't have given you a ticket anyways. Just because an off-duty cop in his personal vehicle observed you speeding, he can not call up an on-duty cop or stop and tell a cop, etc. His speedo on his truck isn't police calibrated and he doesnt have speed monitoring equipment. I would have begged them to give you a ticket, because both of those cops would be in big big trouble.

He could of gotten busted if he was a little buzzed! They can get you like that!

  3. That BB system looks pretty nice...

Just ordered the dual rear exhaust system from B&B Performance. They had a sound clip that sounded really nice. All the info from everyone helped with the choice as well. Thanks everyone!! I'll send some pic  s when installed.

  4. The old one was a Volant. I don't want to credit my new times completely to the Outlaw because I did take some weight out of the truck as well. Other than the weight, however, the only other change I made was the intake. I'll tell you all this much...Outlaw has superior customer service and the quality of their product is superior in my opinion. The box fits perfect, looks great, and performs outstanding. Again, all of this is just my opinion. In my "strip" post I was simply saying thanks to Outlaw because that was my only change and they happen to be helping me with my racing effort through sponsorship. With that being said, my previously mentioned opinion is not biased or "sugar-coated" because they are my sponsor. I keep it real here and always have...If Outlaw sucked, I would say so, sponsor or not. I can say that after going through 2 Volants and experience with K&N and Airraid, I would wholeheartedly recommend Outlaw over any other brand. Good luck with your decisions everyone!

I'm almost certain that I will be happy with the Volant. It seems to be closely compared with the Outlaw. I think if the Outlaw looked as nice, I probably would have went with it, buuuuut that was the drawback. Enjoy your Outlaw!

  5. I chose the Volant for looks, quality, reputation, and ram air capability.

Just got through ordering the Volant premium air system for $291.94, ram air scoop for 118.20 and the air filter cleaning kit for 15.99 from www.performancecenter.com . Can't wait till it gets here! I'll send pictures when I install it. Thanks for the info everyone! :D

  6. Corsa doesn't make a bolt on "dual exit" system for our trucks. You'll have to buy the $700+ system, then cut it up for duals. Might as well just get a custom job locally for half the price. LOTS of mufflers out there to choose from.

O.K. So maybe Corsa may be out! Would the Borla "dual exit" be just as nice? Maybe a little spendier?

  7. Just got the 6.0 v max so I m not sure, but I think I hear a slight tap at idle. Not all the time. Am i over thinking here or is it normal.? Runs fine, idle a little low but I m getting a PCM tune soon. Don t want to drive myself crazy. I ll be able to compare performance to SS after the tune cause the SS was tuned by pcmforless. Ride is better than the SS, BUT Its NO SS!

I like the new truck style without all the crome. That thing could look like an SS!! Nice truck!

  8. i have aero turbine mufflers on my truck and my god is it loud. its the deepest sounding truck ive heard. but corsa sounds really good i had it b4 and wasnt loud enough for me. good luck

Thanks guys for the info! Let you know what I go with soon. I still want to go with the Corsa. Only if I can find the dual exits.

  9. Welcome to the forum :chevy:

Borlas work well enough, but the same exact catback is sold through GM as their "performance catback" for a bit less $$$. As you are considering a high-dollar product I would suggest looking at the Corsas, they perform about equally with the Borlas and the interior sound level is stock with no resonance/buzzing in the cab. I have a Corsa Touring and love it.

    Mr. P. :)

Thanks for the feedback. After researching the Corsa Muffler system I can't find one with dual exit for my truck. Only can find side exit. Any recommendations?

  10. I tried this and could not get the shaft to slide. I removed the bolt completely and after several tries i could not get the shaft to move at all. Anyone have any suggestions?

I just got through doing this to mine and it works. Remove the bolt completely like you did and shove the shaft that goes to the firewall in and out about 15 times. You might have to force it out of the link that it is attached to from being together for so long but mine just slipped out with no porb. Remember, it's the part that is closest to the firewall that you move in and out. Just don't turn the shaft. Keep it in the position. Just move it completely in and out about 15 times. Guaranteed it will fix the clunking problem that i've have for about 2 years!

  11. I was looking around online and came across an interesting fact. GM no longer replaces steering shafts or greases them. Techs are instructed to take out the bolt that holds the upper and lower shafts together (under the hood near the brake booster) and pump the inner shaft in and out a few times. It is very important that you do not rotate the steering wheel with the shaft disconnected or you can damage the air bag system. I did this on mine and presto no clunking. It took like 5 minutes. The theory is that the grease on the splines will be redistributed and stop the clunking. I'll be damned if it didn't work. Anyone with the annoying clunk and no warranty or with no time to take it in should do it even if it only lasts 10-15k miles it was free and quick.

    Dave

Wow!! I just tried this and it works. I've had this problem for about 2 years and now it's fixed. Really thought it was something major!
