  2. i have a 03 ss with 61K.. my temp gauge was messing up about a months ago. never believed it but it was still under warranty due to a recall.. i think its 7year / 75000mi extension on the cluster.. i do believe its for 03-04s but you should check with your dealer.

  8. Hey guys i have been reading the cam forms and still having problems figuring out which one to get for mine. I have a 03 sss with a maggy suppercharger with long tube headers that goes out to a cut off. the truck sounds awsome headers open but i want that mean old school sound. the tranny has been rebuilt with a 3000 stall, i also have hp tuners so tunning wont be an issue. what cam would you guys recomend (old school sound, if needed will redo the heads but preffer not to).
  9. is the transfer case easy to repair. i wouldnt touch a tranny but transfer case seems like it would be easier to handle.
  10. well i took the front shaft off and the fun began. burned the tires off and it was a blast. went cruisn around and was gona do a burn out for my buddies and well nothing happend. at first i thought the tranny went again but since i had the front shaft in the truck i went ahead and put it in and luckily the truck moved and babied it home. did i break the chain in the transfer case. if not can someone tell me what happend that let the truck move with the front shaft in. is this an easy fix or did i screw it up badly. thanks for the help you guys are the best.
  11. well i just took my front shaft off and the truck will run fine, but.... As soon as i took it off i burned that rubber and it felt good. i was cruisin for a couple of hours and was gona do a burout for my buddies and well i think i snapped the chain in the case. the truck wouldnt move at all, good news i had my front shaft in the truck and put it on in 10 minuts. luckily it moved and i got home. pretty sure the chain is snapped but not sure why it moved when i put the shaft in. sooo i would leave it in, too much temp to burn the rubber and breaking. sooo i learned the leason for u. lol
  12. well im sorry to tell you this but not that 650 was enough for the software u might have to spent a little more but.... This book is sooooo awsome it breaks down hp tuner to the best. i think the web site is tunningschool.com the book your looking for is TUNNING THE RIGHT WAY. it a begginers guide to tunning GM vehicles with HP tuners software. it cost a little more then the dummy books lol. the cost is 499 u also get a cd with it which u can watch and they will teach you on there too. its either the 499 or the 899 and that includes a seminar. hope that helps.
  13. Glasspacks work good, i like my Vortex a lot. if you go on youtube and search Silverado SS Unstuck Snow Vortex Exhaust you can see and hear my SS, i have had a lot of good comments on it. But i am taking the entire exhaust system of today and putting on a set of Pacesetter long tube headers, Y pipe, Cut off w/ electric switch. Then tommorow take it to the shop and prob have then put on a super 40 Flowmaster. Flowmasters sound good with headers but i think with stock exhaust its to quite. Vortex has an awsome sound. If your close to colorado springs and interested in the exhaust let me know.

Anything is better then nothing. in my case i blew my 2-4 band 1st. so i had the tranny built up with corvette survo, cavlar 2-4 band, Z-Pack, Shift kit (aggressive, shifted hard), and upgraded the stall coverter. then blew the low planetary shaft. On these trannies just seems if u dont do the hole 9 yards something breaks. But if you do have someone build one for you tell them the truth about how you drive and make sure they will cover the warrenty, i got screwed on that one.
  15. Its a great supercharger, bolts on easily, comes in a complete package. I bought mine from florida even though i was in alaska. the guy lowered the price down to $4,800, but that might of been because i just got back from iraq. The charger has great torque gains in 1st and 2nd gear. if u ask anyone its not the greatest after that, but nothing a good tune and a pulley cant change. there is a great post on here where they compare all the chargers and turbo kits, check them out. http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=13056
  16. I have a 2003 SS. Put a Magna Charger on it and since then have been through 3 trannies. First time the 2-4 band went out. After that happend i had the tranny built up with corvette survo, cavlar 2-4 band, Z-Pack, Shift kit (aggressive, shifted hard), and upgraded the stall coverter. That lasted 90 days and the rear planetary shaft snapped in half. After this i had 2500 stall and the tranny cooler also upgraded and they put in a better low planetary shaft. Also softened the 1-2 shift. Last night I was going from 75mph to 110mph and the tranny just quite working like it went into neutral. Need help, how hard is it to put the L80E tranny in and is it that much stronger or what else can u put in the L60E. As bad as it sound im ready to give up on the SS, dont want to but i cant afford to drop a tranny every month. Any suggestions would be awsome especially around the colorado springs - denver area. Thanks guys!!!!
  17. Truck looks BAD ASS!!! You got the stock 3.4 pully on it? Also since ive put mine on i have gone through two tranys, you had any problems with yours.

  19. WOW 9 sec. That would be badass. Alls i know is i put a magna charger and i have blow two trannys. 1st time was the 2-4band. I had a wide 2-4 band put in, corvette servo, upgraded converter, shift kit, and a Z pack. Alls that did was take the low planetary shaft and snapped it half. the guys wouldn't warranty the transmission because they said it was all torque. there is a guy i beleive out of nebraska that has a half ton running a 6.0 with the l80e tranny and hes running 10.6 i beleive on youtube. if u decide to run a l80e tranny and find a transfer case please let me know. good luck on the project and kill as many fords with it as you can.
  20. hey i have an 2003 SS. i put a magna charger and the stock tranny went out a month later. i had the guys at the tranny shop put some goodies in it but that only lasted about 90 days and now its gone again. But both times the the one two shift is what broke. the first time the 2/4 band went out and didnt shift into two but all the other gears worked. this time when it was shiffting into second it really blew it. did u by chance learn anything of what was causing the slip. thanks for ur time.
