  1. Let us know what you find. I don't have a problem replacing the door-mounted switch if that's the confirmed problem. But I have not been able to locate a correct replacement for the driver side door switch. Passenger side switch = no problem finding. But no online parts listing I can find has the driver door switch available. Probably because the switch has not only the heater controls but the memoy buttons too. Makes me wish I had my old 66 396 Chevelle back. Things were simpler then.
  2. Same thing has been happening to me for the last couple years on my 04 SS. Any time we get rain or even really high humidity or heavy dew, the driver's side seat back heater comes on and cycles through the settings. It even happens in the winter if it's damp enough out. For me, it's only the driver's seat back that is possessed. You can turn it off and a few seconds later, it comes right back on. It'll even turn itself off as it cycles through. Drives me nuts. I've seen this problem reported here and on other forums. I have yet to find anyone that came up with a definite cause or solution. I've taken my door panel off and inspected the door module, even wrapped it with electrical tape to seal it up. There is no apparent way that moisture can get to it. I really don't want to just replace the module if there is no guarantee that will fix it. So for now, once the winter season is over, I just unplug the heater under the seat. There's a white multipin connector pretty much beneath the center of the seat. When you unplug it, it disables both the driver and passenger seat heaers, but nothing else. Power seat and memory seat still functions fine. If anyone knows a way to solve this, please let us know. Dealer didn't have a clue.
  3. Mine must be different. There's pretty much no way I could mount the LED stick above that plastic turn-up on the bumper cap and still be able to see it. The pic below shows what I'm talking about. I figure I'm going to have to remove the tailgate to get enough room to work and then trim off that piece of black plastic that turns up underneath. I can't believe I'm the first person to notice this problem. Or is my bumper somehow different than other SS bumpers?
  4. On my 04 SS, the black cap on the rear bumper rolls up under the tailgate. For anyone who's done the install, did you have to remove that vertical piece of the bumper cap to mount the light stick? If not, how did you avoid it?
  5. OK, found the leak, right at the top middle of the brake light assembly. This must have been going on for a while because the hot wire to the cargo lights broke off due to corrosion when I removed the assembly and the cargo ground wire metal insert on the chassis plug is also damaged due to corrosion. Does the dealer carry either the chassis plug metal connector inserts or the entire plug assembly? I can solder either one to the existing wires but the cargo lamps are now non-functional due to this.
  6. I believe you got a bum keyless remote from your ebay source. The number on the back is only a reminder reference. The actual number of the remote's identity is governed by the order in which you program them. If you program a #2 remote first, it becomes identity #1, the second one programmed becomes #2, etc. You have to program them all at the same session in the desired order.
  7. There is no Oil Life Sensor. GM's oil life system is a software function in the vehicle's computer (not sure which module). The following is what I've found on other sites referencing this. Sounds like the function is not working if it stays at a fixed percent life.
  8. 04 SS. Both license plate lamps just went out. It's snowing and sloppy as heck here in Chicago area so I don't feel like crawling around underneath. But the manual gives no clue which fuse these lamps are on. Anybody know?
  9. Bought my 04 last July with 55K on the clock for just under $19K. Came certified with the GM bumper to bumper and powertrain warranty. Not a scratch on it. Loaded with everything but Onstar. You can do better than $30K.
  10. This is probably a strange request - but with the Holidays approaching, I always do the redneck thing and run a lighted wreath on the front of my truck. I have a 20" wreath with C7 bulbs on it wire tied to the grill with green twist-tie wire. I use a 400 watt inverter under the hood wired to activate with the headlight circuit for the 120-volt C7 bulbs. My old trucks all had chrome bumpers and grilles so no worries about scratches. With the SS, I don't want to scratch the finish where the back of the wreath might abrade the front of the hood, grille bar and the top of the bumper. I'm looking for some sort of fairly tough self adhesive clear protective film that can be applied to the parts in contact with the wreath and still be easy to remove after the holidays. Anybody have any suggestions?
  11. 04 SS with dual zone auto HVAC. The defrost button below the heater display no longer is backlit. The little amber indicator still works to show that it's on, but you can't see the button display at night any longer. I assume this is a small LED. Has anyone ever replaced one of these, or know of a fix?
  12. It's not a recall, it's a warranty extension to 7-years/70,000 miles whichever comes first. If the gages fail, they'll fix it. You can't just take it in and have them replace the gage cluster if no problem exists, like in a recall. See below. http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/index.ph...6&hl=recall
  13. One responder on another forum indicated that he worked at a dealership and that was SOP. Refurb costs GM about $300 versus around $700 for a new one. They'd probably put in a new one if the vehicle was virtually new, otherwise, it's refurb to save money. I don't really care, as long as it fixes the problem. [edited for spelling]
  14. Problem solved. It was indeed the head unit. They replaced it and the problem is gone. Another benefit is I now have a new Bose amp and the volume knob no longer has the finish rubbed off the face.
