  1. I'm in the process of getting an LQ9 out of an HD pick up. I throwing around the idea of turning it into a 408 stroker. However, I'm trying to do this on a budget. I was wondering what you guys think of these kits. http://cgi.ebay.com/Chevy-LS6-LS1-STROKER-SHORTBLOCK-408-racing-NEW-/230356972577?pt=Race_Car_Parts&hash=item35a2587421 http://cgi.ebay.com/TSP-LS1-LS2-Forged-Stroker-Rotating-Assembly-402-408-/290361906012?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item439aeb135c http://cgi.ebay.com/LS1-CHEVY-STROKER-KIT-BALANCED-383-408-421-434-RP-/230556281514?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35ae39aaaa Let me know what you guys think. Like I said this is just an idea. If you have any other ideas on what to do with the LQ9 I am open for suggestions. Thanks!
  2. Anyone ever heard of this stuff? It's lighter and cheaper than dynamat but is the same thickness. http://www.b-quiet.com/ultimate.html
  3. Check this site out. ----------->http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/diyma-member-build-logs/11842-04-silverado-progress-so-far.html
  4. Correction. Dynamat states on their website their "extreme" product weighs 0.45lbs per sq ft. If you go by the calculations at the beginning of this post 90 sq ft would weigh 40.5lbs. If you wanted to do the inside of the doors and used 108 sq ft (3 extreme bulk packs) it would only weigh 48.6lbs.
  5. This might be a dumb question but could I still do this mod with drum brakes in the rear?
  6. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong as I am at work and unable to look under my hood. I beleive on the driver side, towards the firewall, attached to the valve cover, is a rubber hose about a half inch in diameter. Pull ths hose off while the truck is running. If you put your finger over it you should feel a good amount of suction. Don't leave your finger over it too long or else your truck will die. Basicly you just need to pour about 1/3rd can of sea foam into that vacum line. Go very slow and let the suction do it for you. If you add too much at one time your truck will spit and sputter and die. Its not the end of the world if it does but I can be a little hard to start up after words. This should take you about 5 to ten min. Once this is complete, re-attach the rubber vacum line to the valve cover and shut off your engine. Let your truck sit for about 20 min. After that you can start your truck and make smoke signals!!! Your truck will smoke and that is a good thing. That is all the carbon and crap tat was in your intake and valves. Rev your engine up and down until the smoke is gone. Thats about it. I pour 1/3rd in the gas tank and 1/3rd into the oil the day before I pour it into the vacum line. I always change my oil right before the smoke fest. *Note I do it before so that I avoid hot engine while changing oil. Hope this helps!
  7. I seafoam mine about every 10k miles. Haven't had a problem yet. It's super simple. You just need to remember to pour it in slowly. If you pour too much you will stall out. Just take your time and let your truck slip it in.
  8. I custom mounted mine in the dash. I used the little cubby hole right below my center A/C vent. I don't have a SS so it was just a pointless spot in my dash. Then I bought an extra plug from VatoZone and wired that so that it will only have power when my key is on. (since I dont have acess to the on off button) . Thats all behing the dash as well so the dash is clean.
  9. Hey, I read on a thread that you will change stepper motors in the gauge cluster. I think alot of mine need replaced. At least the speedo, tach and oil pressure. Would it be worth changing all of those or should I look at buying a whole new unit? Also what would you charge to do that and would you do the led conversion like you did with yours?

  10. How does this muffler act as an x pipe when its a straight through design?
  11. I have remote start on my truck and I live in az so it's really nice to start my truck before I get into it so it's a little cooler. My question is if I don't turn off my a/c before I turn my truck off will it ruin anything? I heard it will ruin the compressor. Anyone have a thoughts on this?

  14. I have diamond audio component speakers front and rear with a 4 channel alpine amp and love them. They are clean, loud and run super cool. I used to try and go the cheap route but I've only learned the hard way. Do it once and do it right. But that's my 2 cents. Try lookig on eBay there are some good deals out there.

  16. How much should I be looking to spend on a decent 14 bolt rear end?
  17. Cool thanks for the help. Now the trick is finding an Axel.
  18. What about the parking brake and proportioning valve?
  19. Still have the axel? How much you looking to get for it?
  20. Anyone have any idea what it would take to sawp out my axle for an ss axle? I do have drums and the ss has disc? Would it be worth it?
