  1. Well, I filled up tonight with Shell V power. Found 93 and am gonna see how that goes.
  2. The best we have here is 91 octane. We have Marathon, speedway, shell, BP, Chevron, circle K, Citgo, LUV's, and you walmart and meyer gas stations. Does one burn better, last longer than the other?
  3. All clean! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v625/Yen...69/HPIM0524.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v625/Yen...69/HPIM0523.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v625/Yen...69/HPIM0522.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v625/Yen...69/HPIM0526.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v625/Yen...69/HPIM0525.jpg Here is the old rear knock sensor, and the new one. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v625/Yen...69/HPIM0527.jpg Same back RTV around the little black covers, put the intake back on and now we're good as new! Under the intake, we found sand, mulch and grime! I'll never know how it got there, but dear lord! The truck picked up a few ponies with the knock sensor replaced.
  4. Update: First of all, Bowtie70SS is the best friend anyone could ever have. He's a fantastic person who'd go out of his way for anybody. WOW, just wow. So, Dave and I tackled this intake today (I won't lie, Dave did everything pretty much) The intake came off to reveal this The sensor and harness looked like this. The rear knock sensor is the one on the left, and the front one is the one on the right. Needless to say, the rear one looked like it went down with the titanic!!!
  5. Well then I guess I'll have to add some then. Thanks for the heads up!
  6. This is the box that mounts to the fenderwell on the 96-98 vortec trucks. Was going to put it on my 98 Z71 but don't have it anymore. This one came off of a 50,000 miles 98 Z71 ECSB that was black if it matters I'd like 75......OBO plus shipping
  7. I know that these parts are not generally very saught after, but I am in need of the both antennae masts for my 2003 SSS. The junkyard had regular radio antennaes for 5 bucks a pop, but the one I bought isn't the correct one and I don't like it. I have both bases for my XM and onstar, but the one that is over the driver's seat on the roof is missing it's actual antenna.
  8. I have no intentions of blowing off your advice guys. We are gonna give it a good examination to make sure everything is on the up and up. Dave is the man! He's gonna get me up to speed on this SSS Stuff.
  9. I'll say! Thanks again fellas! Went to the exhaust shop today and get the cats repaired and other than the crappy droan of the chock masters or whatever mufflers are on there, this this sure runs a heck of alot better. Still throwing the code for knock sensor, along with rear O2s, but I know the fix for that. Thanks again! Hopefully I'll be able to contribute knowledge too soon enough.
  10. The sensor is getting replaced this coming saturday if all goes well. I do not wash the engine due to fear of something like THIS. And that Cat was SOLID. No wonder the truck didn't run.
  11. The driver's cat was the culprit. I cut the off rear of the cat. Fired to truck up and the thing turned cherry red. So, I fixed it Truck is load right now until I get that exhaust repaired in the morning. Thank you folks very much for your help, I couldn't have done it with out you. P.S. The truck runs like a scalded cat!
  12. I am replacing that sensor this saturday. Do you also agree that the cat is bad?
  13. So, it's agreed then. Monday, my truck gets cats removed. Anyone else who wants to, please chime in. I'm new to this and am soaking it all in. The more knowledge you folks present me with the better. P.S Thanks so much for your time!
  14. It threw and engine code last night. I read the code with a code reader. It Shows P0300 Random multiple cylinder misfire detected. and p0332 knock sensor 2 circuit low input. So I cleared the codes and the truck ran fine until I layed into it and the engine light came back on. This time it read P0101 MAP or VAF CKT range/perf and P0300 Random Multiple cylinder misfire detected. I cleared it again, and ran her easy home. Never above 55. I ran it low on gas in case the gas was bad. This morning, I fire it up, let it warm up 5 mins, shoot up the street for gas (91). Filled up, left the parking lot and gave it a bit more gas and the light came back on causing the truck to buck and stutter a bit. When I first looked at the truck it had a little ching ching ching noise under it which I contributed to the exhaust as it was coming from the area where the cat convertors are. Fast forward to 5pm tonight. Truck runs fine, I get on the highway and slowly take the truck up to 55 and it's fine. I set the cruise and run at 55 for 2-3 miles, then gently accelorate up to 70 and reset cruise to stay with the flow of traffic. About 2 miles later, the truck loses forward momentum and the RPMs go up to about 5000. The check engine light is flashing indicating a misfire. The truck begins to buck again like it has a bad miss and throws the check engine light again. I make it to the advanced auto. I opened the door and immediately smelled FOUL FOUL exhaust. I mean it REALLY stunk. I am thinking it's a cat gone bad. My exhaust has 2 mufflers. One for each bank of cyliders and goes out the back at 45s to 2 tips. I put hand over the drivers side tip and can barely feel air movement at all. At the pass side, you can feel it very strong at 18 inches away. I call another buddy in Ohio with an SS (Bowtie70SS) and he says to turn the truck off, let her cool off (the exhaust) and then drive it again. While I am waiting, I rescan the codes and it comes up as P0101 MAF or VAF CKT range/perf P0300 Random/Multiple clylinder misfire detected P0332 Knock sensor 2 Circuit low input (Bank 2) Well I shut the truck down for about 2 hours and then climb back in and start it up, put it in drive. I can instantly tell a different. It's not perfect, but it's alot better. Within 1 mile it's back to being as bad as it was before. My question is, do you think that I have a bad cat causing all of this mayhem? If so, will cutting the cats off TEMPORARILY until I get REPLACEMENTS next week make my problems go away and the truck drive normally? I my theory is that the cat is clogged up like an artery, and the engine is cutting spark to several cylinders in order to relieve pressure and protect itself. I could really use your folks help. Please please help!
  15. Got the truck home today. WOW! I have been missing out!
  16. I may just cut those tips off tomorrow to get rid of them until I can get a good exhaust on there. Whats good? I have had my fill with loud, droaning, raspy, cackly exhaust. I would love something mellow, that you can't really even hear at idle, and can't hear inside at all unless you romp on the loud pedal pretty good.
  17. Thanks guys for the support. I really had thought for a second I did something bad by buying it. It's very rare that you can buy a vehicle at all, and get the taxes, fees etch thrown in and still come in UNDER the loan value that your bank will give you and still have change to spare. No, not a real Yenko unfortunately. I do know where a couple of barn fresh one's are hid and not for sale . What I do have is a Factory Monaco (hugger) Orange 1969 Chevelle. 375 horse L78 4 speed 12 bolt posi car. Black bench interior, black vynil top. It is in pieces because it got new quarters and trunk panel. It now sports a 490 big block.
  18. OK gentleman. I am the person who purchased this truck, so I will answer some questions. As for the exhaust, it's god awful, isn't it? I drove the truck and it runs strong. It has 79,000 miles on it. Carfax is clean. No filler in the truck, no sign of water damage etc etc. Has a good clean title. Truck originally out of I think Virginia, went to FLA and then came to KY where I bought it at a dealer auction. We have a family friend with a dealership who did me a favor by purchasing this truck for me at dealer cost and letting me have it for 15200. It has a couple of flaws like worn front seat, a small dent in the driver's side bed rail and a few dings. All sheet metal alignment is factory perfect. Only thing wrong with the truck is that awful exhaust. It rattles also.... I hate it. I am planning on putting a factory exhaust back on it. It sounds like a farm truck LOL. Anyhow, the title is good. No salvage, no flood, no collisions on the car fax. Looks like it had a small amount of paint work on the driver's bed side. Nothing big. I think I did pretty well on it. Paint is still nice on it, and shines nicely. The engine has great oil pressure, with no funny noises. It stops well, runs very well, suspension is still nice and tight. Back set looks brand new. Factory 20's look to be in good shape. It's gonna need tires in the semi near future. The dash board is a little but of paint coming off here and there but that can be fixed. Has factory everything down to the air cleaner. The engine compartment looks very clean, not like it was just cleaned, but like it was always kept clean. I plan to give it a tune up ASAP with new fluids, plugs, etc etc etc. Sorry for being so long winded. P.S I live in Central Kentucky.
