  1. As some of you may know, I recently did a 4l80e swap and bought Circle D's best multi-disc converter that was supposed to have a 2800 stall. Before I ordered from Chris at Circle D, he asked me to fill out the "ask Chris" form which was basically vehicle info, current mods, future mods, how you use your vehicle - street, track or both, etc. After I placed my order, Chris told me I would get better performance with a 3000 stall, so I told him to go ahead and build it but to please do his best not to exceed 3k because of the Maggie I would be adding soon - then cam, heads, etc. later this Summer or Fall. Anyway, after some unpleasant city driving and some fine tuning from Zippy, the truck seems to run much "smoother" than it did, BUT I now am finding out that he WAAAY over shot my 3000 stall. Right now, Zippy tells me it's stalling right at 3300, plus I have a brake stall record of 3300 and a flash stall of 3300. After I install all my power adders, I'm being told it will be close to 4000 which is way too much. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this experience from Circle D? Seems like he is a reputable builder but how hard is it to get a stall correct if he's supposed to be so good is my question? Now I'm left with the headache, downtime and especially the added cost of pulling my trans. back out to swap out something that should have been built properly to begin with IMO. Maybe I would understand better if it was his lowest priced converter, but this one set me back $1,200.00!
  2. I hope Chris didn't overshoot the stall by a mile like he did on mine. I ordered his best multi disk that was supposed to stall no higher than 3k AFTER I add my blower, cam, heads, etc. I'm just now finding out that it's stalling right at 3300 totally stock and Zippy told me it would be close to 4k once I get all the power adders installed.
  3. AWESOME bro! Can't wait too see it all come together...keep up the good work!
  4. Makes me feel a little better I'm not the only one! Seems like there's a lot to learn with this software (at least for me) but it's a great investment. One would almost need to buy another PCM to do mail order tunes + just paying for S&H a few times and you've almost paid for one - not to mention the down time you have waiting on the mail man! Oops! Thanks bro
  5. Indeed, thanks Johnny! The cool part was, I was just minding my own business (as I usually do ) trying to log some regular city driving, took off at the light normally and then I see this very young kid looking over at me with a big grin on his face as he's blowing by...he had a couple of secs. head start. So I stomp on it and reeled him in very quickly - within 1/8 and blew by him with us both at WOT! I get so much action where I live it's ridiculous! Seems like almost every time I take her out someone's trying to race...can't wait till the weather gets nicer
  6. So I go out with my HP tuners software running to make a log file after thinking I properly added 3 more TCC parameters, Trans. output shaft RMP, Turbine RPM and Downshift Solenoid 3-2 (not exactly sure what that one does, but it looked cool so I added it anyway) since Chris from Circle D wanted to see, particularly the TCC parameters. Anyway, I made a really good log file of some City driving, 0 - 100, 55 - 100 and a few 40 roll accelerations (where I think there may be a problem with either my trans. slipping or converter because it just doesn't accelerate like it should) and on my way home, a young kid in a Nissan Titan (who I'd noticed behind me on the highway while making some of my test runs) gets off at my exit, pulls up next to me at the light and TRYS to race. Needless to say he got his ass smoked pretty good! The best part of all was when I got home to look over the new log file I had just made, I discovered that none of the above parameters saved!! Oh well, gives me an excuse to go out for another test run! ...I did finally get it figured out and made sure the new config. file saved properly this time!
  7. Thanks Brent! I remember you're the one who suggested I do this work myself, so thanks for that because it really hadn't even entered my mind at that time! The way I chose to do my 80 swap ended up costing me waaay more than I originally thought, then tack on another grand or more if I would have hired a shop to do it for me and I wouldn't have had enough in my 15k budget to do the blower. In fact, I spent so much money on this first phase that I'm cutting it very close as it is now! Overall, doing the swap myself has been very rewarding AND just in case this isn't a tune issue (which I'm currently trying to sort out now) and I do have to pull the Trans. back out because of a bad Converter or Clutch, gear, whatever, I'll be able to do it very easily - although I won't be happy about it because of this... ...anyway, it is what it is no matter what's going on. I'm the one who signed up for this and understand shit happens that I'll have to deal with to get her running like she should. I will say this - I'm happy I didn't spend the first part of my budget on the blower first THEN the 80 swap. If I did do the build that way, my chances of doing damage to whatever's currently wrong would have been much greater because of all the power behind it.
  8. Heartland Park Topeka is open March 29 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm for Street Legal drags if anyone in the area wants to attend! I'll be going to get a base line on my truck before the blower goes on - it'll be my very first 1/4 mile run at a track so I'm pretty pumped!
  9. I took her out the other morning to go to breakfast and noticed that slip again from a dig pulling out of my neighborhood. Mashed the throttle down and there was at least a full second delay where the RPMs go way up but the truck literally didn't move. To a novice like me, it still definitely felt like the trans. was slipping. So later that day I hooked up my hp tuning software and made a log file that included several different acceleration levels outta the hole. When looking at the injector and RPMs on the tuner screen, you see them shoot to 100% (or there about) but at that exact moment on the screen the MPH is zero for about 1/4" then it catches and starts to accelerate gradually. Then today I made another file because I wanted to see if it was doing the same thing it did that one other time as mentioned above where it down shifted into first gear and I felt a pretty bad slip. So I did a 40 roll, let it shift into overdrive, then mashed the throttle - RPMs shot up to 5 - 6k and it did the exact same thing as before - the truck definitely felt like it was slipping pretty bad as it shifted all the way down into 1st gear and barely accelerated at all. Does this sound like it could possibly be a bad 1st gear to anyone?
  10. lol, I know...just messin wit ya. Actually, I'm looking at the Whipple 2900 Camaro blower too now and trying to make a decision. I have a thread on PT trying to get different opinions on which is better and why. The 2900 is a very similar design to the Jackshaft 2300 only it is gear driven instead of the belt in the back of the blower, has a cover on the Jackshaft and it's obviously a bit bigger. Looks like some pretty sweet engineering on Whipple's part. http://www.whipplesuperchargers.com/product.asp?ProdID=1243
  11. Just thinking of ways to bring a little more life into the site and like cmoney said, it will get a lot more people posting pics of their trucks too. Since a lot of the people on this site have already won TOTM and can't win again, what incentive do they have to even be involved? And let's face it, since there are fewer and fewer of our trucks these days, TOTM can't go on forever with the one and done rules.
  12. I guess we're not doing truck of the month anymore again? This is just my opinion, but since these trucks aren't made anymore and the rules of the TOTM are currently that no one can win that has already won before, maybe we should consider a different contest that would allow EVERYONE to participate and potentially win. I think more people would participate in nominations, voting, etc. if they have the potential to be nominated even if they have won a TOTM before. I'm going to suggest that we re-structure to possibly a truck of the quarter or truck of the year since the last guy who won in 2013 was listed on this website for almost a full year anyway!
  13. For sure...then I'll be pickin on Vettes!
  14. Thanks bro, the Corsa Sport is tough to beat. Diesel, CTSV, Prius, I'll race anything...love it! Thanks! Yeah, we were actually headed the other way on the highway and he was really drivin like an idiot trying to catch my attention, so he ended up getting off at my exit and I pulled up next to him and asked him if he wanted to race so we got back on in the other direction and he got his ass handed to him.
  15. Hey, he started it! lol, yeah that navi lady gets annoying after a while
  16. tried copying and pasting the link and the youtube vid comes up just like above. You can do a search on youtube for Stock SSS vs. Duramax and it should come up
  17. Wonder if he noticed my license plate?!?!
  18. ooooh, so THAT'S why they call it stink finger
  19. nice kill...well played!
  20. Personally, I prefer Volant CAI and here's why IMO. Totally enclosed box, has the option for the ram air tube and looks the best - not to mention great performance
