  2. Welcome from NC. Congrats on finding your truck.
  3. Sux you had to go through all the battles with the ins. co. Are you staying on at the body shop? Truck is looking good.
  4. Welcome to the group. You've found the right spot for SS info.
  5. Good deal and a nice looking set, but a sixteen hour drive for me.
  6. I didn't see any that I would hate to own.
  7. Sorry to hear it Jake. That can't be a fun ride, under the circumstances. Hope you get her straightened out soon.
  8. Your reading my mind with the pictures, Bob. I was going to ask for some. Great story as to how you came to have it. I am not familiar with your particular rifle but did some searching and came up with this, and thought you might be interested. http://www.amazon.com/Japanese-Arisaka-Assembly-Disassembly-Manual/dp/0949749265 Don't know if you are interested in pursueing reloading your spent brass, but ask a gunsmith about the strength of the rifles chamber before going much hotter than stock loads. Here's a little more about the 6.5 round, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/6.5%C3%9750mm_Arisaka
  9. Great story, Parriott,You know the old saying; :If you want anything done right, Do it yourself" Still like to se some after pictures.
  10. If your brass is clean, (no corrosion), you can probably be certain that the rounds have been good and dry. I don't think that I would worry too much about it but I would try to find a vice on a shooting bench to clamp the rifle up in and fire it for the first time with a long piece of string around the trigger. Or you could go to a good gunsmith with both rifle and ammo and ask him to give the rifle a good look and pull a bullet and check the load and primer. You'l have to keep in mind that he would probably be real happy to sell you fresh ammo. Is your rifle a retired military weapon?
  11. Those rims are right up there with the ugliest I've ever seen. I'd hate to hit a pothole or curb with the rubber bands he's got on them. The dog looks tough enough to not give a good cr@p what people think of his glasses.
  12. Back in my shooting and reloading days. (Long time ago), I reloaded as much for performance mods to a give round, and the enjoyment of the hobby, as for cost savings. It's amazing how flexible, and open to tweaking, rounds like a 222 and 30-06 can be. You can load for anything from brush busting slow and heavy to light and fast flat trajectory for open field varmint shooting.
  13. I like the black one better, but for me, it would have to have bigger sidewalls on the tires. (Not too crazy about the chrome wheel's, either.) That skinny rubber just makes big vehicles look too top heavy. I'm with ya on the wheels on the white one.
  14. Welcome to the site. A few known problem areas; On the AWD trucks the front diff is a problem for many. GM recommends an early fluid change and most don't seem to get that change. Pull the drain plug and check it for metal / fluid condition. Refill with synthetic and keep your ears open for bearing rumble. Transfer case has a design flaw that lets the internal fluid pump wear a hole in the case. There is a fix. Transmission is weak link, especially after power add ons. Enjoy your stay, here, and your new project.
  15. Sure hope you folks find her safe and soon. This has to be a nightmare for her parents. Prayers sent.
  16. Free shipping looks good. Looking for the touring set myself.
  17. Thanks for your efforts, Zane. Nice to have the site up again. I've been missing it.
  18. Whoa Baby! That looks like a lot of fun. I am looking forward to seeing this one come together.
  19. Welcome to the site. Congrats on finding a great truck. First Chevy, huh? Well; You did get there, in the end, and that's good. Plenty of good info available, here. Don't expect huge gains in MPG. Heavy truck, fair size motor. Volante CAI, 160 degree thermostat, and Zippy tune has gained me about 2 MPG. Even where gas prices are now the payoff is a long way off. Coarse that's not why I started modding.
  20. Congratulations, Zach. More money for mods, now, right?
  21. Congratulations on finding your truck, and welcome to the site.
  22. Way to go. Money saved on gas means more bucks for SS mods. I'd like to find something like that too.
