  1. Here is my Harley posted on cycletrader.com 2004 Wide Glide Ad on cycletrader.com Thanks for looking. Cody
  2. Sorry for taking so long to get pics up but these pics aren't the best...best I could do with the truck on ramps and taking them with my cell camera...
  3. So, after driving it for a few more hours this morning, I've gotta say I love this tranny. I never adjusted the line pressures and it shift quicker, and firmer than my 65E with the line pressures raised. I did shorten the shift times and adjusted my shift points but thats it...The only thing that I am noticing is that when I am in 3rd gear and have moderate throttle applied, around 3k rpm's I get a loud whistle that will drop off at about 3100 rpm's...I can't pin point where it is coming from so I don't know if it's the tranny, pulley, clutch fan or whatever else could be making that kind of noise. I will let you all know if/when I find out what the noise is...
  4. Ok, tranny is in and running, I have only driven it abou 35 miles and still ahev to tweak the tune a little (shift points). I will say, this tranny shifts awesome without even modifying line pressure. All in all this wasn't a difficult swap, just time consuming. I would recommend it for anyone running higher HP...and Hughes did a great job with the tranny.
  5. I know, late reply but I just got back into town earlier this past week. I would have tried to make it but my truck is still down for the4L80 install. Let me know the next time your gonna put this together.
  6. Thats awesome Zip, I'm just about done with the truck, just have to install the new cooler lines, dust cover, shift cable bracket, drive shafts and reflash with the new segmented tune. i should be able to get this done this weekend. I'll keep everyone updated. Cody
  7. I have the main tranny harness and speed sensor harness. I also have the 80E segment added to my current tune file...Right now just waiting on my shifter bracket and new tranny cooler lines, they're supposed to get here on the 13th but I'm gonna be gone till the 24th It should be done the weekend after I get back.
  8. I thought I'd post up the build sheet that the sales guy typed up for me...This is what is in the 4L80E that I have...Hughes 4L80E Build0001.pdf
  9. I would like to verify something if anybody has an answer...The 4L80E that I installed has both speed sensors in it. I have read that the only 2 that I need is the forward one on the tranny and the one in the transfer case...is this true? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks Cody
  10. Well, picked up the tranny today...so far this has been great dealing with these guys at Hughes...they delivered on time and worked with me on the parts required for this conversion...now all that is left is to get this bad boy installed...I am still waiting on a few parts from gmpartsdirect but those are just the dust cover, tranny cooler lines, a heat shield and the shifter bracket...I won't be able to really give a final review until the end of the month. I'm doing my military 2 weeks here in another week. I'll keep everyone informed
  11. Your correct, mine was a Danny built but it was only stock before that. These 65's have weak bands (anchors), very weak input shafts (Twisted mine off passing from 45mph) and aluminum drums (break or strip out), most everything else in them should hold up but the three strike rule applies to me. I broke my first tranny with only a tune (broke the band - replaced with stock), second broke band and cracked drum with my radix and tune (replaced with a Danny Built), Danny Built twisted off input shaft while passing from 45mph and now I rebuilt the Danny Built myself and now lost 3rd and 4th gears (Probably just solenoids). I want to be done with changing out tranny's, if this was a race truck, I'd understand, but this is my everyday driver and I also want to have some fun with it so I decided to just go 80E and end all be all (hopefully). I'm also looking at a cam swap in the near future and if the 65E's aren't holding up to just a radix and tune, it definately ain't gonna hold up to a cam added into the power ratio... Just my .02/.04 cents...
  12. I agree that a built 60/65 will save alot of heart ache as long as your not putting alot of power down beyond maybe a radix (480-500 fwhp range) beyond that I would suggest an 80E for the simple fact it should be the last tranny you install. Granted a stock 80E would probably not be enough for more than 550 fwhp either so you'd want to have a mildly built 80E if you have plans to run more hp that the 550 range. I am in the process of doin an 80E conversion and right now all I have is a Radix (about the 500-510 fwhp range with my custom tuning). I am now going on my 4th tranny and it's gonna be a mildly built 80E. There is alot work involved and would be tough for a beginner. so my opinion is, if your planning to only do a SC to about 500 fwhp, you should be good with a highly built 60/65E, if your looking to go more...do the 80E conversion. This is just my opinion Cody
  13. I asked about that and it is a billet steel output shaft designed to go into the stock transfer case. They stated that it is as strong as the 4L80E output shaft and state that the tranny is rated to at least 900-1000 fwhp so I'm not worried about it... plus it comes with a 90 day unlimited warranty and a 1 year limited warranty.
  14. I think so, just hope I can make the time to get it all done, I only have 3 weeks to get it done before I go off on my Navy Reserve 2 weeks out of state...So far, Tranny is being built (should have in about 7 business days), just ordered the crossmember and already had HP Tuners do the segment swap on my tune for the 4L80E...One thing I forgot to throw in was the $5k also includes a Hughes SC 2500-3000 11" stall coverter
  15. Hughes already installs the tranny to transfer case adapter spacer and output shaft, this price also include the harness adapter pigtail with the second speed sensor harness.
  16. Ok, I've made my decision. I'm going with Hughes but...I'm doing the 4L80E conversion. I am putting all the numbers together and it looks like it's gonna run about $5k for everything. So far, I have only found one place that sells the modified crossmember ( www.transmissioncenter.net/4L60E_to_4L80E_Swap.htm ) and they want $330 but you get $160 of that back when they get your old crossmember so it's $170. The driveshafts are gonna cost me about $250 + tax to have them shortened and lengthened, still gotta find a dipstick (about $50), gotta modify the tranny lines and probably need to modify the exhaust where it runs under the tranny. I've got 2 days straight set aside to do all of this so wish me luck.
  17. I'm seriously looking at the 4L80E swap but I need to find out if someone makes the modified crossmember or am I going to have to make my own. I noticed someone over on LS1TECH did a swap on a $WD and modified his own. If anyone has any info, please let me know. Thanks Cody
  18. Ok, after hearing from a couple of you about how great FLT is, I was sold on the FLT level 7 but after talk to my pops, I am now looking at having Hughes Transmissions do my tranny for the simple fact they are about 4 miles from my house and they tell me they can build the 4L65 to the same specs as FLT for a bit less. I am also considering them because they can also do a street/strip 900HP rated 4l80E setup that will adapt my transfer case with the adpter harness and a S/C 300 11" stall for around $3700. Then I would only have to relocate the tranny cross member, modify the exhaust a little and the the drive shafts shortened and lengthened accordingly plus need to find out how to re-flash through HP tuners to recognize the 4L80E. I beleive I can do this for no more than $5k...this is only about $800-$900 more than the FLT level 7 tranny. I'd like some opinions but I think I may be leaning toward the 4L80E conversion...Let me know guys...
  19. Just got a reply back from Andy today and it looks like I'll be getting the extreme duty level 7 4l65e. After 3 with this being the 4th, I'm tired of messing around with these tranny's. Thanks for the information about Andy, I am gonna only deal with him. Thanks again Cody
  20. Well, driving to work today at a constant speed of 75 all of the sudden my truck just reved as if it had no load on the tranny. I gave it more gas and it finally caught at about 4500 rpm's and at this point I realized that it was only catching 2nd gear. I ran it down to 2nd and no change other than it now pulled me down when I let off the gas. When I put it back in 3rd or OD it felt like there was no drag and only caught back up when I got the rpm's back up to 4500. I don't know what this could be. I have a feeling that it may be the solenoids on the valve body but I don't know. This was a built tranny but I twisted off the input shaft so I pulled it apart and replaced the input shaft myself and since then it has been a little quirky. Now I have to see if I want to rebuild it again myself or just buckle down and buy a fully built tranny (Looking at the FLT Level 7). I just don't seem to have any luck with tranny's...
  21. Great...that is where I was thinking it had to be but before I took my entire dash apart, I figured it was easier just to ask the question. Thanks
  22. OK, another question. I now have the resistor on the way but I don't know where it's located...Does anyone know the location? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks Cody
  23. OK, thanks for the P/N. I'll search around for the best price...Thanks again
