Still somewhat new to the site. Just wanted to introduce my self - Names Matt, im originally from Lafayette, LA - Serving in the US Army - Currently stationed at Fort Campbell, KY (101st Airborne Division - Air Assault) but will soon be moving to Fort Stewart, GA (3rd Infantry Division). I drive a 2005 Silverado LS. Im working on making it into a crew cab "clone". Still have a ways to go, but its coming along pretty well. Matt

When I left for Afghanistan 93 was only 2.43/Gal. Im almost not looking forward to coming home as much now, knowing ill be spending all my money on fuel!

Looking for a new exhaust system for a 05 silverado (5.3L). Im looking at the Corsa Sport cat-back system. Just wanted to see what you guys think about it? Matt

Not really digging the chrome mirror caps, but LOVING the rest of it. Great Job.

I have the Bose system in my crew cab as well. I stripped down the center, every little piece to it, and didnt find spit. Ive read about a lot of people looking for it and not finding it is the only reason I tried. I have 2 Solo Baric 8" subs under the rear seat, and 2 Alpine Type E 10" subs behind it, so I could care less about the stock sub. hahaha.

I did the same thing that you did, without problems. Check all of the things that paulguy mentioned.

New Headunit And Amp. Need Some Help.
m.bohn007 replied to wolfpackman's topic in Radio/Electronics/Security
Getting an amp that has more power than you subs IS a GOOD idea. You cant just go cranking your amp to max level and expect to not fry the speakers though. If you keep it at a moderate level, it will push the subs without any distortion and without straining the amp. DO NOT bother with a Kicker amp however. I had a 1000/1 amp to push 1 Kicker Solo-Baric L& (15") and it was complete garbage. Many of the other amps mentioned here are very good choices. I myself, love Rockford Fosgate amps. -
Did you reup for Korea? If you didnt - you have my condolences. Ive heard nothing but horror stories about it there. Haha. I'll be heading for FT Stewart when we redeploy. I had two Alpine Type E 12's, in a ported box, in my wifes Mazda 6. That was pretty ridiculous. I had two JL W7 13.5's in a ported box as well that I use to just set on my backseat when I wanted to jam/piss people off around town. They got stolen though. hahahah.

The box and subs seem to be a pretty good match. Im deployed to Afghanistan right now, so it will be a while before I get home to put all my new toys in the truck. My dads shop is filling up with parts right now.

Im just shy of 90K and lets see: Broke the drive shaft, right down the middle (never found the rear half) Blew the tranny. Broke the rear drum brakes doing a burn out. Broke the front brakes sporting around town. Broke the gauge cluster, God knows how... So I say hes doing pretty good!

Yeah its one of the many types of MRAPs out there now days. [Me (far left), my gunner and medic infront of my RG-31]
-
I did some research: The box im looking at getting has .5 cub ft of airspace per side. The recommended airspace for the subs is .33-.75. Sitting right in the middle.

Looking to do a new sound setup in my 05 crew cab. I currently have a sealed, dual 10" box that goes behind my back seat. Im thinking about getting a downfire style box to go under the backseat. Ive never heard how they sound for myself, any thoughts? Im looking at putting 2 Kicker Solo-Baric 8" L7's in it if I do get it.
-
Blew out one of my previous subs. Just ordered 2 Kicker Solo-Baric 8" "7's with a dual downfire box for under the backseat!

Im in north east Afghanistan, FOB Bostick - 101st Airborne. Ive heard a lot of good things about the strykers. Were rolling around in RG-31's and M-ATV's here. Not a whole lot of action now that its nice and cold up here in the mountains. Hopefully things pick up again this spring.

Im currently deployed to Afghanistan. Im the driver of a vehicle called an RG-31. When I first got the truck the ABS light stayed on in it, although myself and our mechanics couldnt find anything wrong with the system. So you know what I did? I took out the bulb behind the ABS indicator! Problem solved right? Haha I know it doesnt help your situation, and its not the best route to go, but it worked for me! Just sayin...
